Job Purpose and Impact

The Senior Manager, Environmental & Social Responsibility job leads the implementation of the strategy for the organization's philanthropic investments to advance the organization and customer's business, social and environmental priorities through key partnerships, partner engagement, impact measurement and reporting. With minimal supervision, this job provides in depth knowledge to implement complex processes and facilitate relationships with internal and external partners to advance the organization's purpose, and to advocate for their social and environmental priorities, while strengthening the organization's reputation as a responsible corporate citizen.

Key Accountabilities

  • CSR - Lead and manage group-level CSR initiatives in India and Pakistan, driving the implementation of strategic programs across Cargill’s diverse business verticals. Possess a strong understanding of the Companies Act and its CSR provisions, with the ability to interpret, navigate, and address compliance-related requirements effectively. Experienced in CSR governance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement, including coordinating and preparing documentation for statutory and audit requirements.
  • STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT: Assesses and implements the global philanthropy and partnership investment strategy to advance the organization's environmental and social governance goals and commitments, ensuring alignment with business and key partners.
  • PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT: Develops projects, investment opportunities or initiatives that align with the organization's social responsibility focus areas while supporting philanthropic and partnership investment opportunity proposals, including defined goals, target areas and approaches for making a positive impact.
  • PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT: Monitors the global and regional philanthropy and partnership investment portfolio to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to achieve desired outcomes and improve impact on environmental and social governance goals and the organization's purpose.
  • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Develops and implements complex strategic philanthropy and partnership initiatives aligned with the organization's social responsibility goals and addressing specific social and environmental challenges in a targeted region or impact area, while engaging partners accountable for delivering on organizational goals.
  • IMPACT REPORTING: Reviews impact evaluation reports on the philanthropy and partnership performance to support value and effectiveness of initiatives, strategic decision making, visibility and accountability to ensure timely, accurate impact reporting by external partners.
  • FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT: Follows the grants management governance and processes to ensure complex financial management for all philanthropy and partnership investments by handling budgets and tracking expenses, ensuring that funds are used efficiently and effectively to achieve the desired impact.
  • GRANT MAKING & DUE DILIGENCE: Conducts detailed due diligence on potential grantees, approving assessments on partner and project credibility, financial stability, governance practices, and alignment with the organization's global values and objectives to ensure grant making aligns with applicable laws, regulations, industry standards and the organization's policy and values.
  • FOUNDATION MANAGEMENT: Conducts detailed due diligence on potential grantees and foundation partners, approving assessments on financial stability, governance practices, and alignment with the organization's global values and objectives to ensure foundation management and grant making align with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • INTERNAL STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT: Collaborates with key global internal partners, such as business unit and corporate function leaders, to identify improvements for strategic partnerships to use expertise, resources, and networks, while improving the impact on environmental and social governance goals and the organization's purpose.
  • EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT: Implements the external partner strategy and maintains relationships with external partners, including non profit organizations, foundations and global community leaders, and serves as external spokesperson by representing the organization in meetings, multi partner forums, and other community engagements to drive significant and sustainable impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 to 12 years of related work experience in corporate social responsibility and sustainability and strategic philanthropy.
