Senior Manager (Entrepreneurship and Funding) (25260765)

The Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) serves as the bridge between the University and the community for the transfer of knowledge, expertise, skills and capabilities in campus-wide disciplines. We implement various initiatives to encourage and facilitate knowledge transfer (KT), including but not limited to the protection of intellectual properties of the University, organising activities to engage internal and external stakeholders, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship activities, and formulate strategies and policies towards the holistic development of the University’s KT.

The Office now invites applications for the position below:

Reporting to the Director of Knowledge Transfer, the Senior Manager (Entrepreneurship and Funding) will play a pivotal role in fostering an entrepreneurial ecosystem within the university. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to support faculty, staff, and students in their entrepreneurial endeavors, as well as providing support for funding applications and investor engagement activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute programmes that promote entrepreneurship among students and faculty;
  • Organise workshops, seminars, and networking events to connect entrepreneurs with mentors and resources;
  • Identify and engage with potential industry partners and investors to promote HKBU’s technologies and secure funding opportunities;
  • Provide support for funding applications, including grant writing, budget preparation, and progress reporting;
  • Oversee and manage various funding schemes at KTO;
  • Coordinate and manage investor engagement activities, such as pitching sessions and technology showcases;
  • Promote the entrepreneurship at HKBU and manage associated entrepreneurship programmes, such as TSSSU;
  • Assist the Director of Knowledge Transfer in planning, developing and managing entrepreneurship projects and activities; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A recognised bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, finance or a related field;
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in entrepreneurship development or incubation, preferably in academic, research, or innovation environments;
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and project management skills;
  • Experience in funding management, administration, application and/or grant writing is highly preferred;
  • Good working knowledge and work experience in entrepreneurship development would be an advantage;
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a tea; and
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to sit for a written test.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
