In this role, you'll:
Lead the strategic development and oversight of vehicle regulatory standards and advisory functions that support safe, compliant and future-ready vehicle operations across NSW. You’ll guide the establishment and implementation of regulatory frameworks, engineering standards and certification requirements that strengthen road safety outcomes and support the safe adoption of emerging vehicle technologies.
You’ll provide authoritative technical advice across vehicle standards, certification schemes and exemption pathways, ensuring decisions are risk-informed, transparent and aligned with legislative requirements. Working closely with internal stakeholders, Service NSW and industry partners, you’ll shape practical, evidence-based regulatory approaches that balance innovation with safety and compliance.
Leading a multidisciplinary team of specialists, you’ll drive consistent, high-quality advisory services and build organisational capability in vehicle engineering standards. You’ll foster collaboration across policy, operational and regulatory environments, contributing to continuous improvement and positioning the function as a trusted technical authority within Transport for NSW.

About you
You’re an experienced regulatory or engineering leader with a strong background in developing standards, frameworks or technical policy within a complex compliance environment. You bring sound judgement, technical credibility and the ability to translate legislation and engineering principles into practical regulatory outcomes.
You are comfortable operating in a dynamic environment shaped by emerging vehicle technologies, evolving legislation and diverse stakeholder expectations. Your ability to balance risk, safety and operational considerations enables you to provide clear, consistent and defensible advice.
A capable and supportive people leader, you build high-performing teams by setting clear direction, developing capability and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement. You communicate with confidence, engage stakeholders effectively and contribute strategically to broader regulatory and organisational priorities.
