Paychex India is seeking a Senior Manager – Engineering & Data Platforms to provide strategic and operational leadership for large, enterprise-scale technology organizations, while accelerating the adoption of AI‑driven solutions and modern data platforms across Paychex products. This is a business‑head equivalent leadership role with end‑to‑end accountability for technology delivery across multiple lines of business, spanning AI engineering, data platforms, and core application platforms.

The role is accountable for leading a large, multi‑layered organization, developing senior engineering leaders, and fostering a culture of high performance, innovation, engagement, and continuous improvement within Paychex India. As a key member of the Paychex India leadership team, this leader will represent the technology organization at the GCC level, partnering closely with global Product, Architecture, and Engineering leaders to align execution with enterprise priorities.

In addition to driving responsible AI innovation and platform modernization, the role owns delivery excellence, operational stability, regulatory compliance, and talent strategy across the portfolio. This leader will balance near‑term execution with long‑term capability building, ensuring Paychex India continues to scale as a strategic global technology hub while delivering measurable business outcomes in a highly regulated HR and payroll ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• AI Capability & Responsible Innovation

  • Define and execute Paychex India’s AI enablement strategy, aligned with global product and technology roadmaps.
  • Lead the production‑scale adoption of AI/ML and Generative AI across platforms, engineering workflows, and business processes.
  • Drive high‑impact use cases such as intelligent automation, predictive analytics, and AI‑assisted development and testing.
  • Ensure all AI solutions comply with Responsible AI principles, including data privacy, security, explainability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Partner with Product, Data Science, and Architecture teams to prioritize AI initiatives with measurable business outcomes.

  Data Engineering & Platform Modernization

  • Own strategic leadership of data engineering platforms supporting AI, analytics, and enterprise reporting.
  • Modernize data architectures with scalable, reliable, and governed pipelines (batch and real‑time).
  • Establish standards for data quality, lineage, observability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Enable data as a core enterprise asset to accelerate AI adoption and decision‑making.

  Technology, Engineering & Delivery

  • Provide oversight for application platforms to ensure availability, performance, security, and scalability.
  • Promote strong engineering practices including CI/CD, test automation, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure consistent, high‑quality delivery through engineering managers and agile teams.

  Program, Portfolio & Financial Leadership

  • Contribute as a senior leader in Program and Portfolio forums.
  • Scope, prioritize, and justify investments in AI platforms, data capabilities, and talent.
  • Balance short‑term delivery with long‑term platform and capability development.

  Paychex India Leadership & Transformation

  • Build and mentor India‑based technical leadership aligned to Paychex values.
  • Promote a culture of learning, innovation, and experimentation within enterprise guardrails, with a strong AI‑first mindset.
  • Lead and execute process improvement and modernization initiatives across Paychex India.
  • Champion technology excellence and scalable engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
• 18 years of enterprise software engineering experience
• 6+ years leading Engineering Managers and senior technical teams
• Strong background in Java‑based, large‑scale systems
• Proven experience driving AI and data platform transformations
• Solid understanding of AI/ML concepts, data engineering architectures, cloud platforms, and DevOps practices.
