Job Description

Senior Manager EHS | UK (Multi-Site)

Drive strategic EHS excellence across the UK while contributing to Group-wide EHS programmes, standards and capability development across Danish Crown.

What you will be doing

As Senior Manager EHS UK, you will provide strategic direction, governance and operational leadership across our UK manufacturing network to ensure regulatory compliance, continuous improvement and an exemplary safety culture.

Reporting directly to the Group Senior Manager EHS, you will be a key member of the wider Group EHS organisation, working closely with Senior EHS Managers, EHS Specialists and regional EHS leaders across Danish Crown. While your primary responsibility will be the UK operations, you will also actively contribute to the development and implementation of Group-wide EHS strategies, standards and programmes.

You will play a critical role in ensuring alignment between local operational needs and the broader strategic objectives of Danish Crown, helping to build a consistent and high-performing EHS culture across the Group.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of the EHS strategy in alignment with Group objectives, embedding consistent standards, KPIs and procedures across all UK operational facilities.
  • Lead, mentor and develop Site EHS Managers and regional EHS teams, strengthening technical capabilities and establishing clear leadership pipelines.
  • Partner closely with Site Directors and operational leaders to drive EHS maturity, foster ownership of safety performance and ensure psychological safety across operations.
  • Lead investigations into major incidents, oversee comprehensive audit programmes and drive key regional initiatives covering machine safety, ergonomics, chemical management and contractor safety.
  • Utilise EHS digital platforms, analytics and performance indicators to evaluate trends and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with EHS leaders across regions to ensure alignment, consistency and sharing of best practices throughout Danish Crown.
  • Lead and contribute to Group EHS programmes and strategic improvement initiatives, supporting the development of common standards, governance frameworks, tools and methodologies.
  • Support the implementation of Group EHS priorities across business units and countries, helping drive standardisation, capability building and operational excellence.
  • Actively contribute to the wider Group EHS leadership team, balancing local priorities with the needs and objectives of the broader organisation.

What you will bring

We are seeking a visible, credible EHS leader who combines strategic vision with hands-on operational authority. You will bring a proven track record of driving cultural change, managing multi-site portfolios and inspiring high performance across matrix organisations.

Experience

  • Substantial EHS experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food production, meat processing or other high-risk environments.
  • Demonstrated success leading EHS across multiple sites with direct people management responsibility.
  • Experience driving improvement programmes, cultural transformation and organisational development within complex operational environments.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Outstanding matrix leadership and stakeholder management capabilities, with a collaborative style that builds trust, influences senior leaders and develops high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across functions, business units and countries while maintaining a strong enterprise-wide perspective.
  • Experience contributing to initiatives beyond individual sites or regions, driving alignment and standardisation across larger organisations.

Technical Competencies

  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of UK EHS legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 management systems and auditing frameworks.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across UK operations.

Why join us

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of EHS both across our UK operations and the wider Danish Crown Group.

You will have significant exposure to senior leadership and play an important role in developing Group-wide EHS standards, programmes and capabilities. Working within an international EHS organisation, you will collaborate with experienced colleagues across regions, influence strategic priorities and help create a safer, stronger and more resilient business.

You will work in an environment that values continuous professional development, empowering you to implement modern digital solutions, strengthen organisational capability and drive meaningful cultural change.

About us

Danish Crown UK is a business built on trust, teamwork and ambition. We exist to deliver food that people believe in, and we know that takes strong leadership and a collaborative culture.

About Danish Crown

The Danish Crown Group is a global food processing company and among the largest in its field. The Group is the world’s largest pork exporter and Europe’s largest pork processor. Furthermore, Danish Crown Beef is a significant player in the European beef market.

Just like the crops in the fields continuously change, Danish Crown tirelessly refine and improve how we work, from farm to fork, to ensure good, safe food for people around the world to enjoy. Our history goes back to 1887 and the Danish cooperative movement, and responsibility towards society, our employees and our owners, the farmers, is quite simply in our genes.

As a global leader in meat production, we have big obligations; not just to deliver, but to explore new opportunities. We still have a long way to go and face many challenges. But we remain committed to improving how food is produced - with respect for animals, people and the environment. In this quest, we are prepared to challenge ourselves, the industry and the market.

This journey is not ours alone, but we promise to be the leaders of change.

You will become a part of a strong culture with roots in the Danish co-operative movement, and at all levels of the organization, you will be met by an informal and direct tone.
