Job Description

As part of this journey, we are strengthening our Global Climate & Energy team and we are looking for a (Senior) Manager - Decarbonization to play a pivotal role in advancing our climate strategy.
This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of decarbonization strategy, Scope 3 transformation, and carbon economics, directly shaping Yara’s transition towards low-carbon products and value chains.

About the Unit

The Global Climate & Energy (GC&E) team is part of YGP. GC&E is responsible for driving Yara’s global decarbonization efforts across its production system and upstream supply chain. The department is the main competence center for climate and energy topics and it leads four critical programs across Yara:
- GHG Program - Decarbonizing our upstream value chain
- Climate Risk Program - Managing physical & transition risks
- Carbon Footprint Management Program - Quantifying product carbon footprints and governing chain-of-custody approaches
- Energy Management Program Driving energy efficiency across production sites

Responsibilities

GHG Program – Scope 3 & Value Chain Decarbonization

  • Lead and own Yara’s Scope 3 workstream within the GHG Program
  • Define and execute decarbonization strategies across upstream value chains, working closely with procurement and sourcing teams
  • Identify, develop, and scale profitable decarbonization initiatives across the value chain
  • Drive supplier decarbonization efforts across sourcing, operations, and sales
  • Monitor developments in GHG Protocol and translate them into Yara’s methodologies
  • Develop and continuously improve GHG accounting models

Carbon Intensity (CI) & Project Integration

  • Lead carbon intensity (CI) workstreams for key strategic projects
  • Act as the CI focal point within project teams, ensuring consistency and robust methodologies
  • Integrate carbon metrics into project design and investment decisions, enabling balanced trade-offs between cost, emissions, and value
  • Align project activities with Yara’s carbon footprint management program

Climate Risk Program

  • Support development of transition risk assessments using climate scenarios
  • Lead analysis on carbon cost mechanisms (EU ETS, CBAM)
  • Oversee and ensure accuracy of CBAM-related calculations, maintaining audit readiness

Broader Contributions

  • Contribute across Global Climate & Energy (GC&E) initiatives as priorities evolve
  • Act as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor within Yara
  • Lead global cross-functional projects and ensure strong stakeholder alignment
  • Support communication of complex topics through presentations, data insights, and engagement forums (e.g., webinars, communities of practice)

Education & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Civil) or related field
  • 8–10+ years of relevant experience

Skills & Expertise

  • Strong understanding of process, energy, and utility systems
  • Advanced data modeling and analytical capabilities
  • Experience with GHG accounting and standards (preferred)
  • Strategic mindset with strong stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to translate complexity into actionable insights
  • Experience in project and portfolio management
