Department Summary

The Senior Manager, Data, Reporting & Insights is a senior leader within Enterprise Programs, Strategy & Support (EPSS), accountable for leading Procurement’s data, reporting, analytics and insights capability.

The role leads a team of data and analytics professionals responsible for transforming complex data into meaningful business insights, executive reporting and analytical solutions that enable evidence-based decision-making and drive business outcomes.

The role owns the strategic direction for how spend, contract, third-party management, third-party risk management, financial, operational and performance data is governed, analyzed and leveraged, connecting these data domains to provide an integrated view of Procurement performance, risk and opportunities.

A critical mandate is to move beyond reporting what has happened to telling compelling stories through data, identifying trends and underlying drivers and translating complex analysis into clear business implications, recommendations and actions.

The role is also accountable for evolving Procurement toward a more mature, insight-driven data and analytics capability, including stronger data foundations and governance, self-service analytics, advanced and predictive analytics, automation and AI-enabled insights. The role defines the data and analytical requirements for these capabilities while partnering with product and technology owners responsible for the underlying platforms and tools.

Depth & Scope

  • Owns and evolves the Procurement data, analytics and insights strategy, setting direction for how data is governed, connected, analyzed and leveraged to support business, risk, regulatory and strategic priorities.
  • Provides strategic oversight across spend, contract, third-party management, third-party risk management, financial, operational and performance data, enabling an integrated and trusted view across Procurement.
  • Establishes and maintains data governance and stewardship practices, including ownership, authoritative sources, definitions, lineage, quality and controls, aligned with enterprise data standards and applicable risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Defines the data models, data and analytical requirements required to support reporting, analytics and decision-making, partnering with product and technology teams responsible for enabling these requirements through enterprise platforms and tools.
  • Leads Procurement’s reporting, analytics and insights portfolio, ensuring executive reporting and analytical solutions are trusted, scalable and focused on the measures and insights that drive business outcomes.
  • Acts as a senior analytics advisor to Procurement leadership, applying analytical expertise and business knowledge to frame complex problems, challenge assumptions and translate data into compelling narratives that explain what is happening, why it matters and what action should be taken.
  • Proactively identifies emerging trends, risks, opportunities and performance gaps, applying advanced analytical approaches to generate actionable insights and support more informed and forward-looking decisions.
  • Advances the maturity of Procurement’s analytics capability through self-service analytics, advanced and predictive analytics, data science, automation and AI-enabled insights, assessing emerging methods and their applicability to business problems.
  • Partners across Procurement, Third-Party Management, Risk, Finance, Technology, product and enterprise Data & Analytics teams to align business needs, data requirements and analytical capabilities.
  • Leads and develops a team of data, reporting and analytics professionals, setting priorities and building capabilities across data management, analytics, visualization, data science and business storytelling, while fostering continuous learning, innovation and collaboration.
  • Establishes measures of effectiveness for the Data, Reporting & Insights function, including data quality, adoption, reporting effectiveness, stakeholder experience and value generated through analytics and insights.
  • Leads complex data and analytics initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and enterprise dependencies and supports the VP, EPSS in advancing Procurement’s broader transformation and data-driven agenda.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Analytics, Finance or a related quantitative or business discipline; advanced degree is an asset.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics, business intelligence, data science, reporting or related disciplines within a large, complex organization, including several years of people leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and executing data and analytics strategies and leading complex analytical initiatives.
  • Strong experience working with large, complex and interconnected datasets and analytical models across multiple enterprise data sources.
  • Exceptional data storytelling and visualization capability, with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information into clear business insights, executive-level narratives and recommended actions.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, stewardship, quality, lineage and controls, with experience operating in a regulated environment and an understanding of data integrity, traceability and auditability requirements.
  • Experience leading reporting, business intelligence, self-service and advanced analytics capabilities, with knowledge of predictive analytics, data science, AI and automation and their application to business problems.
  • Strong business acumen, executive presence and influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to engage senior leaders, challenge thinking and translate business problems into analytical solutions.
  • Experience partnering across Technology, Data & Analytics, Finance, Risk, Third-Party Management and senior business stakeholders in a large, matrixed organization.
  • Procurement, Third-Party Management, risk or financial services experience is an asset.
