Job Description

At ING, we believe banking should help people get on with the things that matter most to them. We're committed to empowering people to stay a step ahead in life and business by making banking simpler, smarter, and more rewarding.

As we continue to grow and invest in the future of lending, we're looking for a strategic and transformational leader to join our Lending Operations Leadership Team and shape the next chapter of our Credit Assessment function.

As Senior Manager, Credit Assessment, you'll lead a large, multi-site team and play a critical role in transforming and scaling our credit assessment capability. This role goes beyond day-to-day operations and you'll drive strategic change, lead the adoption of automation and AI-enabled decisioning, uplift leadership capability, and help design the future operating model for Credit Assessment. You'll work closely with stakeholders across Lending, Risk, Distribution and Technology to deliver great customer and broker outcomes while maintaining strong risk management and operational excellence.

This is a permanent role based in Sydney.

What you’ll do

  • Define and execute the strategy and operating model for Credit Assessment, ensuring the function is positioned for sustainable growth and scalability.
  • Lead large-scale transformation initiatives, including automation, digitisation, workflow improvements and AI-enabled decisioning capabilities.
  • Build and develop a high-performing leadership team, fostering an inclusive culture focused on accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Drive productivity, service delivery and workforce planning outcomes while maintaining strong customer, broker and risk outcomes.
  • Influence senior stakeholders across Lending, Risk, Distribution and Technology to align priorities and deliver strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure a strong control environment, high-quality credit decisioning and compliance with all regulatory and risk obligations.

What we’re looking for

  • Significant leadership experience in lending, banking or financial services environments, leading large operational functions and leadership teams.
  • Deep knowledge of credit assessment, lending operations, risk management and regulatory requirements.
  • A strong track record of leading transformational change and helping teams successfully navigate periods of significant organisational evolution.
  • Experience developing leaders, building capability and creating high-performing, customer-focused cultures.
  • Commercial acumen, strategic thinking and the ability to translate vision into practical operational outcomes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence outcomes across complex environments and competing priorities

What’s in it for you?

  • Discounted ING Health Insurance
  • An additional Rest Day to support your wellbeing
  • An IMPACT day to volunteer on approved sustainability activity
