Job Description

Takeda's Global Finance CoE is looking for an Assistant Controller for our LATAM cluster, based in our Mexico City office. You'll link our markets with the Global Finance CoE accounting teams and handle the preparation side of controllership for every legal entity in the cluster. The Cluster and Core Market Controllers review, approve and sign off. You'll work alongside a peer Assistant Controller on the same cluster, sharing coverage, and you'll bring strong technical accounting depth to the team.

You'll support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close. That includes preparing balance sheet reviews, flux commentary, journal entries, accruals and reconciliations, and you'll be the single point of input for manual journal entries. You'll help prepare IFRS and local GAAP financial statements and support statutory, management and tax reporting. You'll also coordinate external, internal, SOX and tax audits and run the internal controls assigned to you. You'll be the main contact between the markets and the CoE, working with tax, treasury, transfer pricing, consolidation, FP&A and commercial teams to resolve issues. You'll also drive process improvement, automation and AI-enabled controls.

You hold a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field and have at least 5 years of experience in controllership, accounting, audit or record-to-report. You can review and challenge IFRS and local GAAP output, not just prepare it. You have hands-on close experience across multiple entities, have prepared statutory financial statements, and have worked with SAP, Blackline, HFM or similar tools. You've worked with shared service centers or cross-border finance teams, and you're confident challenging senior Controllers. Fluent English and Spanish are required, and an ACCA, CIMA, CPA or similar qualification, held or in progress, is preferred. Portuguese is a plus, as is experience in pharma or another regulated industry.

Your working hours will follow the time zones of the markets you support, with occasional early or late shifts. You'll travel to the markets at least twice a year.
