Description of the position

Can’t wait to make an impact on the world? You’re not alone. Join us in driving progress in the working world and beyond.
Your journey with us

The Cloud and Infrastructure lead is a senior technical leadership role within Deloitte Belgium's IT department, reporting directly to the CIO. The post-holder is both the engineering team lead and the formal service owner for all cloud infrastructure services — accountable not just for how the infrastructure is built and run, but for the service experience, reliability commitments, and business value delivered to approximately 5,500 users and all IT workload teams that depend on it.
Following the completion of Deloitte Belgium's full cloud migration and datacentre decommission, the focus of this role is to mature, optimise, and govern the cloud estate. The Head of Cloud Infrastructure will lead a team of cloud and platform engineers, drive a strong SRE culture, and act as the primary interface between infrastructure capabilities and the broader IT service portfolio. They will report directly to the CIO and operate as a key member of the IT leadership community.

Cloud Platform Engineering
  • Lead and manage (together with the EMEA team) the design, build, and continuous improvement of Deloitte Belgium's cloud estate, ensuring it is scalable, secure, cost-optimised, and compliant with Deloitte global standards.
  • Drive Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) maturity across the team, using tools to ensure consistency, repeatability, and auditability.
  • Own the cloud networking architecture — including virtual networks, VDI, DNS, firewall policy, and hybrid connectivity where applicable.
  • Ensure cloud identity and access management foundations (Entra ID, Privileged Identity Management, conditional access) are robust, well-governed, and aligned with the Security & Risk function.
  • Maintain and mature the cloud backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity posture, with tested and documented RPO/RTO commitments.
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
  • Champion an SRE culture within the team — including the use of SLOs and error budgets, blameless post-mortems, toil reduction, and automation-first problem solving.
  • Own the incident management process for infrastructure-related incidents, ensuring rapid response, effective communication, and structured post-incident review.
  • Drive observability maturity across the cloud estate, including centralised logging, metrics, alerting, and dashboard standards.
  • Manage on-call arrangements and operational rotas, ensuring the team can sustain reliable operations without burning out.
Security & Compliance
  • Ensure the cloud infrastructure estate adheres to Deloitte's security baseline, CIS benchmarks, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with the Security & Risk function to implement and maintain cloud security controls — including policy-as-code, network segmentation, encryption standards, and vulnerability management.
  • Ensure all infrastructure changes pass through appropriate governance and CAB processes, with change risk accurately assessed.
Team Leadership & People Management
  • Lead, develop, and performance-manage the Cloud Infrastructure team, creating a culture of engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Set clear individual objectives aligned to service and engineering outcomes, with regular 1:1s, structured feedback, and meaningful development planning.
  • Manage team capacity across run, improve, and transform workstreams, escalating resource constraints proactively.
  • Identify skills gaps — particularly in emerging cloud services, security, and SRE practices — and work with the CIO to address them.
  • Foster strong working relationships with peer service owners and team leads across the IT department and beyond.
Service Owner Responsibilities
  • As service owner, the Cloud and Infrastructure lead holds end-to-end accountability for the cloud infrastructure service domain. This extends beyond technical delivery to encompass service definition, performance governance, consumer experience, Vendor/supplier relationship and continuous improvement.
Service Definition & Catalogue
  • Own and maintain the cloud infrastructure service entries within the IT service catalogue (L1–L4), ensuring services are accurately described, appropriately scoped, and up to date.
  • Define and publish service standards, including availability targets, support tiers, and onboarding requirements for consuming teams.
  • Ensure all cloud infrastructure components are accurately represented in the CMDB, with clear ownership, lifecycle status, and dependency mapping.
SLA / SLO Governance
  • Set, negotiate, and own Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for all cloud infrastructure services — including availability, performance, and recovery targets.
  • Establish and manage error budgets as the primary mechanism for balancing reliability and velocity across the platform.
  • Report on service performance against SLAs/SLOs to the CIO and IT leadership on a regular cadence, with clear root cause analysis where targets are missed.
Demand & Roadmap Management
  • Own the cloud infrastructure service roadmap, translating business demand, technology evolution, and platform debt into a prioritised, funded plan.
  • Act as the intake point for consuming teams requiring new or changed infrastructure services, qualifying demand and managing expectations through transparent backlog visibility.
  • Collaborate with the CIO, Development and Configuration Lead, and Security & Risk Lead to ensure the platform roadmap is aligned to the wider IT TOM and strategic direction.
Cost & FinOps
  • Own the cloud cost envelope for the infrastructure service, with accountability for optimisation, forecasting accuracy, and variance reporting.
  • Embed FinOps practices across the team — including tagging governance, reserved instance management, rightsizing, and showback/chargeback to consuming teams.
  • Contribute to the IT budget process with accurate, evidence-based cloud cost projections.
Let's talk about you

Essential
  • Significant experience in cloud infrastructure engineering and operations, with demonstrable depth in Microsoft Azure.
  • Proven experience in a service ownership, service management, or senior platform lead role — accountable for SLAs, roadmaps, and service outcomes, not just technical delivery.
  • Strong working knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code practices and tooling (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts — VNets, DNS, routing, firewall, hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience managing or working within an SRE framework, including SLOs, error budgets, and blameless post-mortem culture.
  • Familiarity with FinOps practices and cloud cost governance in an enterprise Azure environment.
  • People leadership experience — comfortable with performance management, development conversations, and building team culture.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical peers and non-technical senior stakeholders.
Desirable
  • Microsoft Azure certifications — AZ-104, AZ-305, or equivalent. Additional certs in security (AZ-500) or DevOps (AZ-400) are advantageous.
  • Experience with the Microsoft 365 and Azure ecosystem at enterprise scale, including Entra ID, Defender for Cloud, and Azure Monitor.
  • Familiarity with ITIL, IT4IT, or service catalogue frameworks.
  • Experience contributing to or leading IT TOM or service-led operating model transformations.
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow or equivalent ITSM platforms, particularly CMDB and service catalogue modules.
  • Fluency in English; working knowledge of French and/or Dutch is advantageous.
