How will I help?
As Senior Manager, Cards Schemes, you’ll manage Westpac Group’s strategic relationships with eftpos, Mastercard and Visa, ensuring strong commercial outcomes and effective compliance across the Bank. Sitting within the Consumer Finance Line of Business (LOB) in the Commercials & Product Profitability Village, you’ll act as the internal expert on card scheme engagement, working closely with Consumer Finance, Everyday Banking, Business Transactional Banking and our multi‑brand portfolio.
You’ll lead scheme relationship management end‑to‑end — interpreting contract obligations, supporting commercial initiatives, managing governance and operational requirements, and resolving escalated business, merchant and cardholder issues. You’ll also represent Westpac at scheme forums and industry bodies, ensuring the Bank’s interests are well positioned in an evolving payments landscape.
What do I need?
You’ll bring demonstrated experience managing card scheme relationships within banking or financial services, supported by strong commercial acumen and a deep understanding of cards products, scheme rules, compliance and regulatory frameworks. You’re confident navigating both issuing and acquiring dynamics and can influence outcomes across complex stakeholder environments.
Strong relationship management, communication and presentation skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and engage credibly with senior leaders and external partners. High attention to detail and the confidence to represent the Bank independently at industry forums will set you apart.
