About the Role

HSBC CIB delivers global financial solutions to corporate and institutional clients. Business Risk supports safe growth through strong risk management, efficiency and clear accountability. This Senior Manager role oversees regional Credit & Capital Management (CCM), partnering with COO/Front Office teams and supporting BAU plus a multi-year transformation.

In this role you will:

  • Set regional risk approach: Drive a consistent, forward-looking end-to-end risk management approach aligned to HSBC frameworks across CCM.
  • Provide oversight and challenge: Deliver daily risk/control oversight, act as escalation point, and constructively challenge business leaders and risk owners.
  • Ensure regulatory and policy compliance: Partner with regional CCM leadership and global Business Risk to meet regulatory expectations and adopt globally consistent policies/practices.
  • Strengthen controls and resilience: Own risk assessments, control monitoring, issues/actions remediation, and ensure end-to-end control coverage and operational resilience.
  • Drive simplification and automation: Streamline and automate the control framework protecting CCM processes and products, supporting technology adoption at pace.
  • Lead governance and reporting: Establish effective governance/escalation, manage change risks (products/processes/systems), and produce clear reporting for senior audiences.
  • Audit and assurance delivery: Drive audit recommendations, support consistent remediation (incl. Audit/MSII read-across), and facilitate audit/assurance reviews with stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder leadership and capability building: Act as point of contact for designated CCM pillars, build team capability/training, and promote a strong risk culture aligned to HSBC values.

To be successful you will need:

  • Credit & lending expertise: Strong knowledge of lending products, credit risk and the end-to-end lending lifecycle; able to identify existing and emerging risks impacting client service.
  • Regulatory and external awareness: Understanding of regulatory, compliance, ESG and political factors; experience operating in a complex, multicultural organisation.
  • Risk & control capability: Proven expertise in risk and control management; able to assess situations quickly, communicate required interventions, and deliver in fast-paced environments with imperfect information.
  • Executive communication: Able to present complex, confidential issues clearly to senior management and regulators using straightforward language for a global audience.
  • Stakeholder influence & judgement: Exceptional relationship management, collaboration, influencing and negotiation skills; strong decision-making under pressure; proactive problem-solver.
  • Leadership & change delivery: Translates strategy into actionable plans; self-starting and able to lead workstreams; sets high standards and ambitious goals; practical experience supporting business transformation while protecting HSBC’s values and reputation.
