
The Microsurgery (MCS) Strategic Business Unit at Carl Zeiss Meditec AG is seeking a Senior Manager Business Development (f/m/x). The role focuses on shaping and advancing external growth opportunities for MCS, with emphasis on strategic partnerships, investments, and M&A in close collaboration with senior stakeholders.
Your Role
Co-develop and drive the external innovation and growth strategy for MCS in alignment with strategic priorities
Identify, assess, and prioritize external growth opportunities across partnerships, investments, and M&A
Own selected opportunities end-to-end, from screening and business case development to recommendation and execution support
Build and manage a structured pipeline of external opportunities with clear strategic and business impact focus
Lead cross-functional workstreams across key functions to advance high-priority strategic initiatives
Prepare decision materials for senior management and support executive and board-level discussions on selected growth topics
Your Profile
University degree in Management, Business Administration, Medicine, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or PhD is a plus
Several years of experience in business development, corporate strategy, investment, or a related strategic role, ideally with exposure to partnerships, venture capital, or M&A
Strong strategic and analytical skills with experience in market analysis, company evaluation, and business case development
Proven ability to lead complex strategic initiatives independently and align stakeholders across functions without formal authority
Strong understanding of medical technology markets, applications, and value chains is an advantage
Excellent communication skills with executive-level presence; fluent in English, German is a plus
