Job Description

The individual is responsible for leading the strategic optimization, financial performance, and operational execution of the health system’s 340B program. This role serves as a system-level leader accountable for maximizing the value of the 340B program to expand patient access, improve affordability, and drive sustainable financial performance.

This leader will partner across pharmacy, finance, compliance, and clinical operations to ensure accurate program execution, compliant growth, and continuous performance improvement across contract pharmacy, mixed-use settings, and eligible sites.

The leader will also play a key role in translating 340B opportunity into actionable initiatives, ensuring alignment between program strategy, operational workflows, and financial outcomes.

Department: System Hospital Pharmacy

Schedule: Full Time

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

1. 340B Strategy & Optimization

  • Lead development and execution of a system-wide 340B optimization strategy aligned with organizational financial and access goals
  • Identify and implement opportunities to expand program capture, improve margin performance, and optimize contract pharmacy networks
  • Partner with executive leadership to translate 340B value into sustainable patient access strategies

2. Financial Performance & Analytics

  • Own performance tracking of the 340B program, including:
    • Savings realization and margin optimization
    • Contract pharmacy performance
    • Capture rate and leakage analysis
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting to support data-driven decision making
  • Partner with finance to ensure alignment between 340B performance and system financial targets

3. Operations & Program Execution

  • Oversee operational processes supporting 340B, including:
    • Split-billing optimization
    • Eligibility workflows
    • Inventory and replenishment alignment
  • Identify and resolve operational gaps that impact program capture or compliance
  • Partner with pharmacy operations teams to ensure consistent execution across sites

4. Contract Pharmacy Optimization

  • Evaluate and optimize contract pharmacy network performance
  • Identify opportunities to:
    • Improve financial yield
    • Enhance patient access
    • Reduce operational inefficiencies
  • Support development of contracting strategies and performance expectations

5. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Partner closely with compliance leaders to ensure adherence to:
    • HRSA requirements
    • State and federal regulations
  • Support audit readiness and remediation efforts
  • Ensure optimization strategies are designed with a compliance-first mindset

6. Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with:
    • Pharmacy operations (inpatient, outpatient, specialty)
    • Finance and revenue cycle
    • Compliance and legal
    • IT / split-billing vendors
  • Serve as a key liaison to align stakeholders on 340B priorities and execution plans

7. Innovation & Program Growth

  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve 340B performance (e.g., workflow redesign, technology enablement, analytics tools)
  • Support evaluation of new program opportunities, including:
    • New site eligibility
    • Service line expansion
    • Enhanced patient engagement models

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide direct oversight of analysts, managers, or program leads supporting 340B operations
  • Establish clear performance goals and accountability structures
  • Foster a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement
  • Support development of future leaders within the pharmacy organization

JOB REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Business, or related field
  • 3-5+ years of progressive experience in pharmacy, with strong exposure to:
    • 340B program management or optimization
    • Pharmacy operations (health system preferred)
    • Financial and performance analytics
  • Experience within an academic medical center or large integrated delivery network.
  • Experience supporting specialty pharmacy, infusion services, or complex distribution models.
  • Experience presenting supply chain strategies and financial analyses to executive leadership and governance committees.

Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (If none, please enter “N/A”):

  • Advanced analytical, financial modeling, and executive communication capabilities.

Compensation Range:

$122,000.00- $177,000.00

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, skills, and certifications/licensures as they directly relate to position requirements; as well as business/organizational needs, internal equity, and market-competitiveness.
