With a $7 billion asset base and services spanning 1.5 million residents and more than 31,000 commercial customers across South East Queensland, we are committed to enhancing the liveability of our communities every day.

Your opportunity

As a Management Accountant with Urban Utilities, you'll help leaders make better business decisions through meaningful financial analysis, planning, reporting and insights.

Working within the Financial Planning & Analysis team, you'll partner with stakeholders across the business to understand performance, uncover opportunities, manage risks and support strategic outcomes. More than reporting numbers, you'll use your curiosity and commercial mindset to identify trends, challenge assumptions and provide practical recommendations that add value.

About you

You're a curious and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys understanding the story behind the numbers. You ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions and use insights to help drive better business outcomes.

Highly organised and detail-oriented, you take pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work while managing competing priorities. You build strong relationships, communicate confidently with stakeholders and enjoy collaborating to solve problems. You're proactive, adaptable and always looking for opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.

You'll bring:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
  • CPA/CA qualification, or progress towards completion.
  • Experience in management accounting, financial analysis, FP&A or business partnering.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting and business performance reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems and reporting tools.
  • The ability to communicate financial information clearly to a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing management reports, forecasts, budgets and performance insights.

At Urban Utilities, we believe our workforce should reflect the community we serve. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, including First Nations peoples, people with disability, members of the LGBTIQ+ community, veterans, emergency responders and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

You might not meet every single requirement listed. If you are excited about the role and believe you can make a strong contribution, we encourage you to apply.

If you require adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know so we can support you.

About Urban Utilities

We’re responsible for delivering world-class drinking water and wastewater services to the growing communities of Brisbane, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Somerset and Scenic Rim.

We’re also planning ahead so that we all can live, work, and build around water, now and for decades to come.

At the heart of everything we do is genuine care: For each other, for our customers and communities, and for the environment. We’re there when our customers need us – whether it’s a simple shower or flush of a toilet; major infrastructure works or new residential developments.

Our head office is in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, but our employees work all over SEQ - including at our SAS Laboratory in Darra, field-based depots in Eagle Farm, Acacia Ridge and Bundamba, and wastewater treatment plants located across our region.
