Job Description

An innovative clean energy technology business is developing next-generation power systems designed to support the global transition away from fossil fuels. Operating at the intersection of advanced engineering, prototype development and precision manufacturing, the business is expanding its technical capability to support continued growth.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Machinist to take a lead role within the machine shop. You’ll manage CNC programming and machining operations, CAD/CAM design work, tooling management and precision component manufacture, playing a vital part in delivering complex engineered hardware.

This role would suit a skilled machinist who is comfortable working independently, contributing to design decisions, and taking ownership of machine shop capability, output quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Programming, setting and operating 3 and 5-axis CNC machinery to produce high-precision components

  • Using CAD/CAM software (Fusion 360 / SolidWorks) to create and optimise machining programmes, fixtures and components

  • Machining complex prototype and low-volume engineered components, including exotic and high-performance materials

  • Operating manual turning and milling machinery where required

  • Managing tooling, materials and consumables inventory to support machine shop output

  • Maintaining accurate machining records, crib sheets and build documentation

  • Contributing to design reviews, manufacturability discussions and route-to-manufacture planning

  • Supporting the development and continuous improvement of machine shop capability

  • Supporting prototype builds, test hardware and subsystem manufacture where required

We’re keen to speak with people with experience in:

  • Strong hands-on CNC machining experience, including 5-axis programming and operation

  • CAD/CAM programming using Fusion 360, SolidWorks or similar

  • Siemens and/or Mazatrol machine controls

  • Machining precision prototype or low-volume engineered components

  • Working with stainless steel, exotic alloys or high-performance materials

  • Manual turning and milling to tight tolerances

  • Inspection using standard metrology equipment

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings

  • Stable engineering/manufacturing background within aerospace, motorsport, defence, advanced manufacturing or similar precision engineering environments

Package & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary

  • Performance bonus scheme

  • Share option scheme

  • Private healthcare

  • Contributory pension

  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays

  • Life insurance

  • Flexible working hours | 37.5 hrs/week

  • Employer-funded training & development

  • Up to 4 weeks contractual sick pay
