About the role

Ready to shape a market-defining APAC LNG derivatives franchise and turn opportunity into real impact? At RWE Supply & Trading, you’ll take a strategic, hands-on role building our presence across financial LNG derivatives and cross-commodity OTC solutions — from market entry to scalable growth. Based in Singapore and working closely with colleagues in Essen, you’ll enjoy high visibility, genuine ownership and the chance to set direction while delivering measurable results.

• Define and deliver APAC market-entry and growth strategy for LNG derivatives; evaluate business cases and establish country- and product-specific frameworks.
• Originate and deepen client relationships across APAC; proactively source counterparties and convert opportunities into executable flows.
• Trade and manage a sales-trading book across LNG, oil and coal; execute financial and selective physical OTC hedges with disciplined P&L and risk management.
• Structure innovative OTC solutions — including LNG–power linkages — to capture niche demand and support RWE’s renewables ambitions.
• Align approvals, governance and operating models across Singapore and Essen by partnering with Risk, Legal, Compliance and Operations.
• Streamline trade execution, booking and post-trade workflows to scale a compliant and efficient APAC franchise.
• Share insights and collaborate across desks to unlock cross-commodity opportunities and collective success.

Job requirements and experience

• Proven track record in LNG/gas trading and/or flow origination within a bank, trading house or energy major, covering financial and/or physical products in APAC.
• Demonstrated ability to originate, negotiate and manage commercial counterparties — turning pipelines into executed, profitable flows.
• Experience designing market/jurisdiction set-ups and launching products: evaluating business cases, defining country/product frameworks and delivering go-to-market plans.
• Entrepreneurial, decisive and curious mindset: explore bold ideas, make informed calls at pace and learn fast from what works and what doesn’t.
• Ownership and execution bias: set clear direction, align stakeholders and move from strategy to measurable delivery — balancing foundational set-up with high-quality execution.
• Collaborative communicator who builds trust: act as #TeamRWE, invite and offer feedback, and champion inclusive ways of working across cultures and time zones.

Advantageous, but not essential

• Exposure to renewables and power markets (e.g. LNG–power interactions, PPA frameworks or hedges linked to RWE’s renewables footprint).
• Regulatory, tax or market-entry exposure (e.g. licensing, local approvals, withholding tax considerations or setting up country-specific trading frameworks).
