Job Description

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Liquidity Manager.

You’ll lead key initiatives that improve deposit performance, pricing outcomes, forecasting, and governance—partnering closely with Treasury, Finance, Sales, Risk, Operations, Technology and regional/global liquidity teams to deliver sustainable growth and strong client outcomes. You’ll set direction, drive cross-market alignment, and represent the liabilities agenda in senior governance forums, ensuring disciplined execution and measurable impact.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you’ll:

  • Own and execute the liabilities strategy across the UK and European footprint, translating priorities into clear plans, milestones and outcomes.
  • Drive portfolio optimization across segments/currencies (mix, stability, attrition, utilization), balancing commercial growth with liquidity and risk considerations.
  • Lead cross-market initiatives to improve deposit performance and protect franchise value in changing rate and competitive environments.
  • Lead deposit pricing governance (committees/forums), ensuring robust controls, clear decisioning and appropriate documentation.
  • Partner with Market/Group Treasury on FTP, hedging and balance sheet topics to optimize deposit economics and support strategic objectives.
  • Provide senior guidance to Sales/Coverage on pricing and deposit strategy; shape communications and training to embed pricing discipline.
  • Own the end-to-end performance management cadence for the liability’s portfolio: dashboards/MI, deep-dives, insights and senior readouts.
  • Set the analytics agenda (data quality, automation, prioritization) in partnership with Technology/Analytics teams to improve decision-making speed and accuracy.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Significant experience in liquidity/liability management, treasury, finance, cash management and/or product management within a regulated financial institution.
  • Strong understanding of deposit economics and pricing levers (including FTP/hedging concepts) and how they translate into commercial outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders across functions and geographies; confident operating in governance forums.
  • Strong analytical capability with a track record of turning complex data into actionable insights and clear executive communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience working across UK and European markets in a multi-entity environment.
  • Familiarity with liquidity-related regulatory themes impacting deposits.
  • Experience driving MI automation and data improvements with Technology/Analytics teams.
