QinetiQ Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Linux Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Linux-based infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, production-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Linux server environments (physical, virtual, and cloud-based)
  • Ensure system performance, availability, and security across all environments
  • Automate routine tasks using scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
  • Manage system monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
  • Perform system upgrades, patching, and vulnerability remediation
  • Troubleshoot complex system and application issues
  • Collaborate with DevOps, networking, and security teams
  • Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
  • Support disaster recovery and backup strategies

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience administering Linux systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Strong knowledge of system performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM, etc.)
  • Implementation of STIG's according to NIST Framework
  • Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
  • Well versed in CyberSecurity hygiene
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance if required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
  • Linux certifications (RHCE, LFCS, or equivalent)
  • Experience in high-availability and distributed systems
  • Working knowledge of Gitlab or similar applications
