Paid Bi-weekly

**Multiple positions/shifts are available. All SLPN's working 2nd or 3rd shift will be eligible for $1.00/hr. shift differential.‎ **

The FDVA Nursing State Veterans’ Nursing Homes are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program

  • From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4000 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years.
  • Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender.
  • Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as required
  • Must possess a valid State of Florida Licensed Practical Nurse Licensure
  • Must possess a valid CPR certification
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English: reading, writing, speaking, and understanding
  • Successful completion of the due diligence process to include, but not limited to, a Level II background check and drug screen

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) year of experience in long-term care/120-bed skilled nursing facility, with a geriatric population
  • One (1) year of experience providing practical nursing services
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Experience passing medications in a skilled nursing facility
  • Knowledgeable in the use of computer applications: Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)

The incumbent is responsible for providing quality care to the residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act. Incumbent reports to the Nursing Supervisor.

  • Provides administrative support that is technical in nature through established nursing standards, the individualized care plan and interdisciplinary teamwork according to established local and FDVA policies and procedures
  • Coordinates shift assignments to team members, providing supervision of licensed and unlicensed staff and follow up to ensure completion of assignments
  • Provide assistance with all aspects of resident care, treatments, self-administration of medications, coordinating medical appointments and spending time in social interactions with residents each shift worked
  • Report resident concerns and needs promptly to the appropriate team member
  • Assist with monitoring and accountability of residents to enable medical personnel to accomplish health related tasks
  • Follow Resident’s Rights policies at all times and maintain confidentiality of resident information
  • Consistently work cooperatively and respectfully with residents, family or resident representatives, facility staff, physicians, ARNP’s, consultants and ancillary service providers to assist residents to achieve maximum abilities, safety and promote happiness
  • Document services and care plan outcomes appropriately within the facility software/database
  • Participate in staff development and orientation of new personnel
  • Attends all in-service programs, training classes and meetings. Assumes responsibility and accountability for information contained in the Employee Handbook
  • Observe all facility safety, infection control, risk management, HIPAA policies
  • Performs other related duties as required
