He angitūtanga: The opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Central City Hub whānau as a Senior Librarian in the Community Partnerships team, based at the Central City Library. Some flexibility will be required as you may need to work from other sites across the central city, these include Te Wharekura, Ellen Melville Centre and the Albert Park Caretaker’s Cottage.
Community Partnerships is a dynamic team that work closely with many communities across Tāmaki Makaurau. Along with your library work, we work in collaboration to create and deliver small intimate activations to large scale festival events. This is a role that requires enthusiasm, creativity and a can-do attitude. Knowledge of Council programming processes, programme evaluation and experience building strong community partnerships would be beneficial.
In this senior, customer focused role, you will be leading and contributing to the day to day running of the library, programming activities and frontline services. You will work closely with other Senior Librarian colleagues to design and deliver literacy and learning activities and initiatives that are driven by community need. A key aspect of this role is being a role model and coach in providing excellent customer service to the local community and surrounding areas.
This is a permanent full-time opportunity working 40 hours per week. Roster includes a weekend day and four weekdays, with the potential for late-night shifts.

We are seeking a leader with a passion for learning, ideally with experience working with diverse communities, connections to the wider GLAM or library sector and event management experience. Strong communication, problem solving, written, creative and digital skills are a must, as well as an ability to foster literacy and community engagement outcomes.
You will bring with you a sound knowledge of library technologies and processes, enthusiasm, and an ability to collaborate in the development, co-design, implementation and delivery of services and programmes with colleagues and partners.

This role is a band G position , we expect to appoint the successful applicant at a salary of $88 - $104k per annum, depending on skills & experience.
