Job Description

This role offers the chance to step into a high-impact position supporting one of the most significant development pipelines in the market, backed by institutional capital and spanning major, high-profile projects.

Working at the centre of QIC Real Estate, you will partner closely with Development and Asset Management Directors, providing commercially pragmatic legal advice across the full lifecycle of complex construction and development projects.

About the Role

This role sits within QIC’s Real Estate Legal team and acts as the lead legal adviser across construction and development matters.

The position is responsible for providing end-to-end legal support across procurement, contracting, delivery and dispute resolution, while also contributing to broader real estate matters across retail, commercial and residential assets. It is highly integrated with the business, requiring strong stakeholder engagement and a genuine commercial mindset.

Operating as a trusted advisor to the business, the role plays a key part in navigating complex, multi-stream projects, balancing legal risk with commercial outcomes.

About You

You are a commercially astute legal professional who thrives in a dynamic, in-house environment, with experience spanning private practice and institutional or developer-side settings. Strong stakeholder engagement capability enables effective partnering with senior leaders to influence and drive outcomes.

Confidence and proven experience across complex construction and development matters is essential, alongside the ability to contribute to broader real estate and funds-related issues. Success in the role is underpinned by a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset and the ability to navigate large-scale, multi-stream projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the lead legal adviser across construction and development matters within QIC Real Estate
  • Draft, review and negotiate construction, consultancy and project agreements across the full project lifecycle
  • Partner closely with Development and Asset Management teams to provide commercially practical and risk-aware advice
  • Support procurement, tendering, contract administration, claims and dispute resolution processes
  • Provide legal support on landlord-side real estate matters spanning retail, commercial and residential assets
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to strategic decision making across projects
  • Drive continuous improvement of legal processes, precedents and delivery models
  • Manage external counsel to ensure efficient, cost-effective outcomes

To Succeed, You Will Have

  • 5+ years’ post-qualification experience, ideally within a top-tier firm and/or in-house environment
  • Strong expertise in construction, development and major projects, including front-end and delivery phases
  • Proven experience advising on procurement, contracting, claims, disputes and project governance
  • Exposure to institutional real estate, funds management or developer-side environments
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders
  • A proactive, adaptable approach and the ability to operate effectively across complex, multi-stream projects

This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing in-house legal team and contribute to some of the most significant development projects in the market, with direct exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to shape outcomes at a portfolio level.
