Job Description

Brief info about Vinted

Our mission is to make second-hand the first choice, and we're looking for people who want to help us get there. Every day, we work together to help our members buy and sell pre-loved clothing and lifestyle items, giving each piece a second life – or even a third.

The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission:

Vinted Marketplace is Europe’s leading platform for second-hand fashion and a go-to destination for all kinds of pre-loved items, with a growing range of categories. Our platform connects millions of members across 20+ markets, helping great items find a new life.

Vinted Go enhances the shipping experience with a vast network of over 500,000 pick-up and drop-off points, partnering with more than 60 carriers across Europe, with added services like item verification for peace of mind on high-value pieces.

Vinted Pay is the newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to bringing secure, reliable payments to buyers and sellers across Europe. Seamlessly integrated into the Vinted app, it helps keep every transaction safe, efficient, and easy for our members.

Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people.

Information about the position

As Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for advising product and business teams on consumer law and regulatory topics from early ideation through to launch. You’ll join the Product Legal team, part of Vinted's Marketplace Legal function, which helps shape user-facing features safely and effectively. In this role, you will report to the Product Legal Team Lead and work closely with product leads, designers, engineers, and colleagues across the wider Legal team

Covering a maternity leave until December '27, we’re looking for a self-motivated expert who can get up to speed quickly, take early initiative, and independently steer product legal matters from the start.

In this position, you’ll

  • Be the lead lawyer for several product domains, with responsibility for reviewing product specs and requests from product, design and other business teams, and giving clear, practical advice
  • Own consumer law compliance for your areas across the EU, the UK, the US and our other market
  • Give clear, firm positions on difficult questions, balancing legal risk with what the business is trying to achieve
  • Lead complex projects that cut across product teams and legal areas, from first scoping through to delivery
  • Explain complex legal risk in plain terms to different audiences, from product teams to senior leadership
  • Deal with authorities and regulators on your topics, including handling their requests and engaging with them directly
  • Decide when external counsel is needed, manage them, and turn their advice into guidance the business can act on
  • Help build guidance, playbooks and training so product teams can answer common questions themselves

About you

  • A seasoned legal professional with extensive in-house experience and a proven track record navigating consumer law within a tech, e-commerce, or marketplace business
  • Deep knowledge of EU consumer law and a track record of applying it to digital products
  • Experience leading compliance work across several jurisdictions
  • Commercially minded, with a good sense of how legal risk plays out for the business and for other legal teams
  • Confident with senior stakeholders, able to hold your own in product and leadership discussions and give a view on the spot
  • Experience dealing with regulators or consumer authorities
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Enjoys working in a multicultural team with lots of cross-functional work, and actively gives and asks for feedback
  • Interested in tech and how online marketplaces work
  • Advantage: UK consumer law experience

  • The opportunity to benefit from our share options programme
  • 25 working days of holiday
  • Access to all the tools & tech needed for work
  • Home office support: we provide IT workstation equipment and a personal budget of up to €540 for home workplace furniture

  • A dog-friendly office
  • In Vilnius office: gym & in-house meals at friendly prices
  • In Kaunas office: a monthly lunch allowance, and a once-a-week provided in-house lunch and breakfast
