MSS Security is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its legal team, providing strategic support across complex workplace, employment and industrial relations matters.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded employment and industrial relations lawyer to step into an in-house role. You will partner closely with executive leadership, People & Culture and operational stakeholders to manage litigation, provide practical advice, and support key industrial relations initiatives across the business.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Counsel, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, partnering closely with the business to deliver pragmatic, solutions-focused legal guidance in a fast-paced environment where your work has real operational impact. Your duties will be, and not limited to:
Managing employment and IR litigation, disputes and Fair Work Commission matters
Advising on unfair dismissal, general protections, disciplinary and workplace risk matters
Supporting enterprise agreement negotiations, bargaining strategy and industrial disputes
Drafting and reviewing employment contracts, enterprise agreements, IFAs and workplace policies
Managing external counsel and supporting litigation strategy
Advising on regulatory compliance, workplace investigations and union engagement
Supporting modern slavery and social compliance initiatives across the business
Contributing to strategic business projects, tenders and acquisitions where required
About You
You are a confident, commercially minded employment and industrial relations lawyer who thrives in complex operational environments, balancing legal risk with practical business outcomes. You will also need
Significant experience as a qualified lawyer in employment and industrial relations law, ideally gained in a law firm, in-house and/or union environment
Strong expertise in employment law and industrial relations
Experience managing Fair Work Commission matters and employment litigation, enterprise agreements, bargaining and industrial disputes
Strong advocacy, drafting and stakeholder management skills
Ability to provide clear, pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice
Experience engaging with unions and senior stakeholders
Exposure to modern slavery, workplace investigations, discrimination or WHS matters highly regarded
Current practising certificate
Full Australian working rights and willingness to undergo pre-employment checks
