The role

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel, Compliance & Regulatory to join our Legal team from 1 Jan 2027. This is a foundational role: you will design and implement Volue's Group compliance framework largely from the ground up, establishing the structures, policies and processes a growing international SaaS and technology business in the energy sector needs. You'll combine strategic leadership with hands-on execution across compliance, business integrity and regulatory matters that directly affect our products and customers.

You will report to the General Counsel and work closely with teams across the Group, including Quality and ISO certification, Information Security, Finance, Product and Commercial.

What you will do to make a difference

• Design, build and maintain the Group compliance framework — covering ethics and business conduct, policies and standards, governance, risk assessment, controls, monitoring, reporting, guidance and training.
• Lead legal and regulatory compliance for Volue's REMIT-regulated activities, and advise on energy and trading regulation relevant to our products, services and customers.
• Support Volue's AI governance programme and advise on the EU AI Act, NIS2, cybersecurity and operational resilience — working with Information Security and technology functions on compliance, incident response and third-party risk.
• Lead anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions and trade controls, competition and antitrust compliance, whistleblowing, and compliance investigations — and own KYB and risk-based due diligence, including ESG and supply-chain requirements.
• Lead GDPR compliance across the Group, including privacy-by-design, data protection impact assessments, international data transfers, incident response and regulatory engagement.
• Lead engagement with regulators and advise on the compliance and regulatory aspects of customer contracts, tenders, market entry, new product launches and M&A — acting as subject matter expert to the wider Legal team.

What you need to succeed

• Qualified lawyer in a relevant European jurisdiction with approximately 10+ years of post-qualification experience, including substantial compliance and regulatory experience in an international environment.
• A proven track record designing, implementing and leading compliance programmes — combining strategic ownership with hands-on execution and sound commercial judgement.
• Experience working in or advising technology businesses, including software, SaaS and cloud-based products and services.
• Good understanding of energy and trading regulation (including REMIT), AI, cybersecurity and operational resilience regulation (including the EU AI Act and NIS2), and privacy and data protection (including GDPR) — with the willingness to deepen your expertise.
• Experience across business integrity, ethics, third-party risk management, and ESG and sustainability-related regulatory requirements.
• Excellent judgement and communication skills, with the ability to advise and influence at senior leadership level, engage effectively with regulators, and translate complex requirements into practical business guidance.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally. Fluent professional English is required.

Nice to have

• Experience in or exposure to the energy sector, including wholesale energy markets, trading, optimisation, market data or forecasting.
• Relevant professional certifications such as IAPP CIPP/E, CIPM, or AIGP.
• Familiarity with relevant ISO management system standards, such as ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 37301, ISO/IEC 27701 and ISO/IEC 42001.

Pay Transparency

The salary range for this role is 360 000 - 420 000 PLN per year, in line with the EU Pay Transparency Directive.
