This role sits within the Business Enablement legal team, supporting key business areas to deliver on their strategic objectives while maintaining strong governance and compliance.

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you'll be a trusted advisor to the business, partnering with leaders to navigate legal and regulatory complexity while supporting strategic priorities and commercial outcomes.

Note - this is a 12 month max-term contract to cover a period of parental leave.

What you’ll do 

  • Provide commercially focused legal advice across the business
  • Advise on regulatory, licensing, consumer law, and commercial matters
  • Support litigation and dispute resolution activities
  • Identify legal risks and develop practical solutions
  • Manage relationships with external legal providers
  • Build trusted partnerships with stakeholders across the business
  • Deliver legal training and capability-building initiatives
  • Contribute to knowledge management and continuous improvement across the legal team

What you’ll bring 

  • A degree in Law and admission as a solicitor in Queensland (or eligibility to be admitted)
  • Several years post-qualification experience
  • Experience in one or more of: commercial contracts, competition and consumer law, franchising, privacy, intellectual property or gambling regulation highly regarded
  • Experience advising businesses operating in complex regulatory environments
  • Strong commercial judgement and risk management capability
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • The ability to balance autonomy with strong collaboration and teamwork
