Job Description

Choosing Capgemini means choosing a company where you will be empowered to shape your career in the way you’d like, where you’ll be supported and inspired by a collaborative community of colleagues around the world, and where you’ll be able to reimagine what’s possible. Join us and help the world’s leading organizations unlock the value of technology and build a more sustainable, more inclusive world.

Your role

You will support Capgemini’s UK&I Legal Client Operations team on external customer-facing technology services deals, from RFI/RFP/tender review and bid support through customer-paper negotiation, contract signature and post-signature matters. The role is for a commercial/IT lawyer with regular supplier-side contracting experience in competitive customer environments. You will work with sales, delivery, commercial, finance, bid, data protection and security stakeholders, helping the business assess risk, propose pragmatic negotiation positions and communicate concise legal advice on what can be accepted, negotiated, mitigated or escalated. We are hiring one role; appointment level will depend on the candidate’s directly relevant experience.

Your tasks

You will support UK&I external customer-facing deals across the deal lifecycle, with responsibilities appropriate to grade and directly relevant experience, including:

  • Advise on customer-facing UK&I deals from opportunity qualification, RFI/RFP/tender and bid stages through negotiation, signature and post-signature support.
  • Review, mark up and negotiate customer-drafted MSAs, frameworks, SOWs and schedules for technology, outsourcing, managed services, cloud/SaaS, digital transformation, consultancy and engineering services.
  • Support bid strategy, legal mark-ups, risk positions and negotiation assumptions under tender timelines.
  • Advise on supplier-side risk allocation, including liability, indemnities, warranties, SLAs, customer dependencies, IP, data protection, cyber/security, audit, subcontracting, termination, change control and exit.
  • Work with sales, delivery, commercial, finance, bid, data protection, security and senior stakeholders to align legal positions with delivery reality and commercial strategy.
  • Prepare concise legal risk assessments and recommendations for governance and escalation processes.
  • Support large, strategic or complex deals as deal lead or supporting deal lead, depending on experience.
  • Contribute to post-contract issue management, dispute avoidance, training, knowledge sharing and legal process improvement.
  • Support non-client matters only where appropriate; the primary focus remains external customer-facing UK&I client contracting.

Your profile

  • Strong understanding of English commercial contract law and technology contracting principles, including cloud, digital, data protection and cyber security.
  • Minimum 7 years’ relevant experience for Legal Counsel; minimum 10 years’ relevant experience for Senior Legal Counsel.
  • Regular experience with external customer-facing, supplier-side technology services contracts; for senior level, substantial ownership of complex or high-value customer negotiations.
  • Experience supporting RFI/RFP/tender processes and reviewing customer terms during competitive bid stages.
  • Demonstrated ability to review and negotiate customer paper and supplier-side risk allocation, including liability, indemnities, SLAs, dependencies, IP, data/security, audit, subcontracting, termination and change control.
  • Strong commercial judgement and ability to explain legal risk in business-friendly, executive-ready language.
  • Confidence to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate with sales, delivery, commercial, finance, bid, data protection and security teams.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, including the ability to propose workable compromise wording and practical mitigation options.
  • Professional English, resilience under bid timelines, collaborative style and openness to legal technology and continuous improvement.
