About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to serve as a trusted legal advisor and business partner across various market functions. This role is more than just providing legal advice. It involves driving change, shaping strategies, and supporting key business initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have broad legal experience spanning multiple practice areas (such as corporate transactions, M&A, contentious, regulatory, and commercial) and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving. Prior in-house experience is preferred, particularly with exposure to regulatory communications.

The role holder is expected to embed a customer first mindset in all decisions and actions by developing a clear understanding of customer needs, taking end to end ownership to resolve issues, and working collaboratively across teams to continuously enhance the customer journey—both directly and indirectly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide pragmatic, commercially focused legal advice across a wide range of business areas and operations.
  • Support business initiatives and projects by providing forward-looking legal insights, balancing risk considerations with commercial objectives, and developing effective, workable solutions to drive outcomes.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including commercial agreements, transaction documents and related materials.
  • Advise on day-to-day legal matters arising from business operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
  • Conduct legal analysis and provide clear guidance on issues arising from ongoing business activities.
  • Participate in internal committees and working groups to support decision-making and promote regulatory compliance.
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand objectives and provide tailored legal support aligned with commercial priorities.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 6 years’ post-qualification experience (PQE); in-house and/or offshore experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Legal experience spanning multiple practice areas, such as corporate, commercial, M&A, litigation, or regulatory advisory (insurance experience is a plus but not necessary).
  • Competent in legal drafting and review of legal matters in one or more of the following areas: products brochures/marketing, commercial contracts; distribution contracts including agency; regulatory issues including licensing; IT matters, complaints, claims and customer litigation; commercial litigation; HR legal matters; corporate matters including incorporation and company secretarial work.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Possess business acumen, be innovative but detail-oriented and self-driven.
  • Ability to work independently while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
