About the opportunity
The Senior Lecturer (Education) makes significant contributions to teaching and learning and provides educational leadership within the School or Faculty. dedicating the majority of their workload to education (approximately 70–80%), the role leads curriculum innovation, delivers high-quality teaching, and mentors staff to enhance educational excellence and student outcomes. This position carries significant responsibility for leading and coordinating assessments for Sydney medical Program with a focus on clinical assessments. This includes evaluation, quality assurance and contributing to improvements in assessment design and implementation. Experience with designing and managing electronic assessment portfolios is desirable. The Level C academic is expected to work independently and collaboratively with the assessment team and academics and professional staff across the Office of Medical Education (OME) and clinical school sites. The position requires strong leadership skills, including mentoring junior staff and clinical teachers, contributing to faculty development and student and educator assessment literacy. The role requires participation in advisory group meetings across the year (including the Portfolio Advisory Group: PAG) and contributing to communications to students and clinical school staff and addressing arising queries. The academic is required to manage competing priorities of different groups and resources while maintaining assessment integrity and pedagogical standards. They should develop productive relationships with OME and clinical school staff and, at times, may have to work under tight timelines.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
develop and coordinate assessments in the medical program
contribute to development and design of the assessment e-portfolio
address questions and concerns arising from a variety of stakeholders in a timely fashion
contribute to faculty development and improvements in assessment design and processes based on curriculum adjustments and evaluation feedback.
apply scholarship and knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practice to innovate education
carry out administrative tasks primarily connected with the area of discipline
undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.
About you
a doctorate or PhD in a relevant discipline, or appropriate clinical qualifications and/or experience in assessment
demonstrated understanding of the subject matter within the discipline
experience in teaching and learning across a variety of settings
demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
experience supervising or mentoring others
a developing network of academic, industry and professional relationships
strong planning, organisational and communication skills.
