Supervises a team of engineers who work on several projects in a common technology area or one complex new technology. Monitors progress of projects and ensures that they adhere to established standards and project plans. Monitors reports and feasibility analysis to ensure validity.

Designation : Lead Engineer – Plastics Product Design & Innovation

Reporting to : Project Lead

Location : Bangalore, Full Time

Qualification : B.E./B.Tech./M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering

Experience : 6-8 Years

Position Overview: As a Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for product design and innovation activities for the Tenn-Tex portfolio, https://www.marmonfasteners.com/tenn-tex/ including kitchen cabinetry, closets, shelving, furniture, brackets, shelf supports, spacers, cover caps, shipping clips and related functional plastic products. The role will convert customer and market needs into differentiated, manufacturable products, support prototyping and validation, and contribute to patent and intellectual property development.

Key Responsibilities / Functions:

• Develop application-driven product concepts for cabinetry, kitchen, closet, shelving, furniture and hardware systems, considering installation, load, durability, aesthetics and ease of use.
• Generate and evaluate new product concepts using customer insights, benchmarking and structured innovation methods.
• Create 3D models, assemblies, drawings and BOMs in SolidWorks; manage revisions through PDM/engineering change processes.
• Develop rapid prototypes, define test plans and validate product performance, reliability and usability.
• Apply DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance analysis and material selection to deliver practical and cost-effective plastic products.
• Conduct prior-art and patent landscape reviews with internal/legal teams; prepare invention disclosures and support patent applications.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, tooling, quality, sourcing, sales and global stakeholders to take concepts from idea to launch.
• Lead project planning, design reviews, technical documentation and on-time delivery of assigned innovation projects.

Skills/Experience:

• Application experience in cabinetry, furniture, shelving, storage, construction hardware, consumer products or similar functional plastic products is preferred.
• 6-8 years of product design and new product development experience, preferably in injection-moulded plastic products.
• Demonstrated innovation experience, including contribution to granted/pending patents, invention disclosures or patentable product concepts.
• Strong SolidWorks skills with sound knowledge of plastic part design, materials, injection moulding, prototyping and testing.
• Working knowledge of design calculations, DFMEA, concept selection, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, DFM/DFA and engineering standards.
• Ability to understand customer problems, develop multiple concepts and convert selected ideas into production-ready designs.
• Strong communication, presentation and cross-functional collaboration skills; experience working with US/global teams is preferred.
