Stantec GDC is looking for a Senior Landscape Technician / Technical Designer with 8 –10 years of professional experience. Stantec is growing its landscape architecture practice, providing planning, landscape architecture and urban design services. We have opportunities to work on a wide variety of projects from urban parks, plazas, and streetscapes to themed entertainment venues and master planned resort hospitality projects worldwide.

We are seeking a positive, highly motivated, and innovative professional who is passionate about Landscape. Top candidates will exhibit proficiency and deep understanding of software like AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit and Civil3D and the rigor to produce the best construction drawings and work products possible as well as an interest in collaboration with other team members.

Working closely with landscape architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams, you will translate design intent into clear, accurate, and buildable documentation while contributing practical problem-solving throughout project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support landscape architecture projects from schematic design through construction documentation and construction administration
  • Prepare design development and construction drawings, details, and coordinated drawing sets in collaboration with landscape architects
  • Translate design concepts into technically sound, accurate, and buildable documentation, identifying and resolving technical issues
  • Assist with conceptual design tasks, including preliminary layouts, grading concepts, material palettes, and planting strategies
  • Coordinate drawings and specifications with internal teams and external consultants to ensure alignment, constructability, and quality
  • Maintain organized CAD/BIM files and project records in accordance with firm standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, planning, architecture, environmental, Urban Planning) to resolve design conflicts
  • Support construction and maintenance administration activities, including field reviews, inspections, deficiency tracking, and contractor coordination
  • Assist with quantity take-offs and support preliminary cost estimates and construction budgets

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS: Qualifications: Diploma in Architecture/ Civil Engineering.

Length of experience: 8 -10 years

The successful candidate will have the following skills:

  • Exceptional software skills and proficiency in drawing production are required. Attention to detail and production of high-quality drawings are paramount for this role.
  • Proficiency in:
    • AutoCAD (essential)
    • Civil 3D, Revit (preferred)
    • MicroStation (added advantage)
    • Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong understanding of landscaping, site grading, drainage, and coordination with civil servicing
  • Experience preparing construction documentation, details, and coordinated drawing sets
  • Working knowledge of landscape construction methods, materials, and site coordination
  • Technical design skills in site and planning projects across a range of project scales from less than one acre to hundreds of acres in size. Skills required include technical design layout, grading, and detailing projects of all sizes.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
  • Understanding of budgeting, efficient use of time and resources as it relates to personal tasks, project scope and project budget issues, timely delivery and understanding of deadlines and their requirements are necessary.
  • Developing ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation in a short span of time will be expected.
