RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with departmental leadership to improve efficiency in delivery of patient services, usage of staffing and supply resources, and operations in the clinical laboratory areas. Responsible for management of staff and/or operations for multiple hospital laboratories at the departmental level. Effectively utilizes available resources to ensure provision of timely and accurate laboratory test results through methods that are in compliance with requirements established by accreditation standards and by federal/state reimbursement agencies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a chemical, biological or clinical laboratory science, medical technology, or Genetic Counseling from an accredited institution is required.
Five (5) years of related experience in clinical laboratory setting with three (3) years of experience or in a supervisory capacity or project management is required. Experience within University Health laboratories is preferred.
A Master’s degree in business administration, health administration, or related field is preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Certification is required. Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC), American Medical Technologists (AMT) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) is required.
Must maintain certification status in compliance with specifications for continuing education required by the certification agency.
