Senior Laboratory Coordinator (Clinical Laboratory)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Laboratory Coordinator to provide technical leadership, operational support, and regulatory oversight while ensuring the highest standards of laboratory quality and compliance.

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced laboratory professional ready to expand their leadership impact by partnering with laboratory leadership to drive performance, mentor staff, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Working closely with the Director of Laboratory Operations and Department Supervisor, the Senior Laboratory Coordinator serves as a key operational leader responsible for supporting daily laboratory operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.

The Senior Laboratory Coordinator provides technical expertise, assists with personnel management, interprets policies, and supports operational and fiscal stewardship while helping ensure safe, efficient, and accurate laboratory services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with laboratory leadership to coordinate day-to-day operations and ensure efficient workflow across assigned laboratory areas.

  • Interpret and implement departmental, organizational, and regulatory policies while ensuring staff compliance.

  • Provide technical guidance and operational support to laboratory personnel.

  • Assist with personnel management, including coaching, training, performance improvement, and staff development.

  • Recommend operational improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and patient safety.

  • Monitor quality indicators and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Support fiscal stewardship by assisting with resource utilization, inventory management, and cost-conscious operations.

  • Assist in troubleshooting technical and operational challenges while promoting timely resolution.

  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, and all applicable regulatory standards.

  • Promote a collaborative, patient-centered culture focused on continuous improvement and exceptional service.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must qualify as a General Supervisor under CLIA-88 and CAP through one of the following pathways:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory, or medical technology science, completion of an AMA-approved laboratory training program, MT(ASCP) (or equivalent) certification, and three (3) years of experience in the applicable laboratory discipline; or

  • Associate's degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory, or medical technology science, completion of an AMA-approved laboratory training program, MLT(ASCP) (or equivalent) certification, and three (3) years of experience in the applicable laboratory discipline; or

  • Previously qualified or eligible to qualify as a General Supervisor prior to February 29, 1992, under 42 CFR 493.1427 (3/14/90)
