We are seeking a highly motivated Instrument Analyst to join our Product Development Team for Stable Isotope service. The successful candidate will be responsible for method development, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and quality control of advanced analytical instrumentation used for stable isotope analysis.

This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on experience operating Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers (IRMS) systems in an environmental, geochemical, agricultural, forensic, food authentication, or research laboratory setting. Experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) systems is highly desirable. Experience with a CRDS instrument would be a plus.

The Instrument Analyst will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality analytical data while maintaining compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 quality standards and laboratory safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Method development, optimization, and validation projects.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain IRMS and CRDS instrumentation.
  • Perform routine calibrations, instrument performance checks, and quality control evaluations.
  • Prepare samples for stable isotope analysis following established laboratory procedures and assist on production sample runs as needed.
  • Review analytical data and validate results for accuracy, precision, and compliance with quality requirements.
  • Troubleshoot instrument issues and perform preventative maintenance activities.
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records, instrument logs, and quality documentation.
  • Support laboratory accreditation requirements, including ISO/IEC 17025 compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with laboratory scientists and technical staff to improve operational efficiency and data quality.
  • Participate in laboratory safety initiatives and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Geochemistry, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Physics, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience operating analytical instrumentation.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS)
    • GC is a plus
    • Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS) is a plus
  • Experience managing analytical data and quality control procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative laboratory environment across multiple departments
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating and maintaining Gas Chromatography (GC) systems.
  • Experience with continuous-flow IRMS applications.
  • Knowledge of stable isotope measurements including carbon (δ13C), nitrogen (δ15N), oxygen (δ18O), hydrogen (δ2H), or sulfur (δ34S).
