We’re looking for a confident and capable Senior Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Pennine Garden Centre on a 30 hour contract, including alternate weekend working

This is a hands on role where you’ll support and deputise for the Lead Chef, helping to keep the kitchen running smoothly, maintaining high standards, and ensuring every dish that leaves the pass is something we’re proud of.

This role is working an average of 30 hours per week, working the following shifts:

Week 1: Tuesday 8am-4pm, Wednesday 8am-4pm, Thursday 8am-4pm = 22.5 hours

Week 2: Tuesday 8am-4pm, Wednesday 8am-4pm, Thursday 8am-4pm, Saturday 8am-4pm, Sunday 8am-4pm = 37.5 hours

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting and deputising for the Lead Chef, including running the pass in their absence
• Ensuring the kitchen maintains full due diligence, food safety, and hygiene standards
• Preparing and producing food to a high level of consistency, quality, and presentation
• Managing production levels effectively to meet customer demand
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the business to deliver a great customer experience
• Ensuring all stock is correctly handled – including date checks, temperature checks, and rotation
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment at all times
• Supporting with deliveries, food prep, and all aspects of kitchen operations
• Using kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
• Minimising waste through effective production and controls

What we’re looking for:

• Experience working in a busy kitchen environment
• Confidence to step up and lead when required
• Strong understanding of food hygiene, safety, and EHO standards
• A team player with great communication skills
• Someone who takes pride in consistency, quality, and presentation
• A proactive approach with a willingness to get stuck in
