We are seeking a seasoned Java professional to join the team building the leading smart workflow automation product that streamlines operations through workflow automation, rule-based decisioning, data integration, and smart document processing.

This is a product that has been developed for the last 20 years, it has been modernized in Java 17 and lately has integrated LLMs and relevant AI - automations to continuously increase the automations

Mission – Why We Need You

Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be the go-to senior engineer, mentoring junior colleagues and guiding them in process engineering through Java Enterprise Development, Spring, and Spring Boot. You will primarily focus on backend development, leveraging strong SQL and database skills, but will also contribute to front-end solutions using React.

You will ensure test-driven development, adherence to SOLID principles, and application of Java design patterns, while remaining responsible for code quality and system-level architecture. LLMs may assist, but the technical judgment and design decisions are yours.

Responsibilities

• Meaningful complexity: Design and enhance high-impact enterprise applications where stability, performance, and correctness matter.
• Technical influence without management: Guide engineering standards, review designs and tests, and coach peers while remaining hands-on.
• End-to-end ownership: Take responsibility for specifications, development, testing, documentation, security, and integration.
• Modernization with purpose: Evolve systems continuously while balancing pragmatism with long-term sustainability.
• Quality and trust: Deliver systems that meet strict quality, security, and regulatory requirements
• Collaboration at scale: Work across internal teams and third-party systems, contributing to a shared application roadmap aligned with business priorities.

Requirements

Hard Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ professional experience designing and developing enterprise-scale software systems.
• Strong proficiency in modern Java versions (Java 17+ preferred).
• Extensive experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot, including scalable enterprise services.
• Hands-on experience with web technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3) and modern frameworks such as React/Redux or Angular.
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs; knowledge of JSON and XML formats.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases: MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB.
• Practical experience with test-driven development and automated testing strategies.
• Knowledge of version control systems, Secure SDLC practices, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps collaboration models.
• Strong Command of Greek and English Language skills, both in writing and speaking
