For our Lugano Office (Switzerland), we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in designing and implementing JAVA REST-based API systems.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical proficiency, solid architectural insight, and the ability to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions.

What you'll do:

• Development & Integration: Design, develop, integrate, and test Java-based backend solutions, microservices architectures, and REST APIs
• Expertise in Java/Microservices/API Solutions: Act as a subject matter expert, supporting the lifecycle management and development of robust Java solutions
• Databese: Designe e optimize persistance layers using JPA and Hibernate, ensuring efficient interaction with relational databases
• Collaboration: Work closely with Agile teams, providing expert consultation and support to product owners to gather requirements and document solutions that align with business objectives
• Secure Coding: Apply best practices in secure coding to ensure all solutions are robust, secure, and aligned with regulatory requirements

What you bring:

• Bachelor's/Master's degree, preferably in computer science or engineering
• 5+ years of experience in software design and development of Java microservices architecture
• Advanced practical skills with Spring Boot, Spring Security and REST APIs developmen
• Proven experience working with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, ideally within migration or modernization projects
• Solid knowledge of JPA and Hibernate, including entity modeling, query optimization, transaction management, and persistence layer best practices
• Hands-on experience with database integrations, SQL, and event streaming systems like Apache Kafka
• Hands-on experience with testing in Java, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing (e.g. JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks)
• Advanced knowledge of secure coding best practices
• Experience in architecting distributed systems with best practices for system design and implementation
• Proficiency in Italian and English is a must
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology is a plus

Location and Work Flexibility

• Please note that a fully remote work policy is not offered for this role
• Candidates should be prepared to relocate to Canton Ticino/Switzerland or Italian border areas close to Switzerland (ex. Como)
• Work-from-home days may be possible according to the Client's policy
