We are now looking for a Senior Java Developer to join our Equities Technology team and help shape the next generation of data, integration, and analytical services supporting our trading business.

This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of technology, data, and capital markets, building solutions that process and distribute critical trading information across Nordea's ecosystem and external partners.

About Our Team

You will become part of a highly skilled team responsible for developing and maintaining data, analytics, and integration platforms supporting the Equities business.

The team focuses on delivering high-quality trade and order data to internal consumers, downstream platforms, and external partners. Our solutions enable reporting, analytics, operational processes, regulatory compliance, and business decision-making across the trade lifecycle.

The technology landscape includes Java-based services, data platforms, event-driven architecture, and integrations with both internal systems and external vendors.

We work closely with business stakeholders, architects, and technology teams across Markets, Operations, and Compliance to ensure the right information is available at the right time and with the right quality.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Java Developer, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based services supporting trade and order data processing.
• Build integrations between trading platforms, market infrastructure, external vendors, and internal consumers.
• Develop data pipelines and event-driven solutions using modern integration patterns.
• Contribute to the evolution of our Kafka-based integration landscape.
• Work closely with architects and senior engineers on solution design and technical direction.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and challenge assumptions where better solutions exist.
• Drive simplification and reduce unnecessary complexity across the application landscape.
• Use modern engineering practices, including AI-assisted development and automation.
• Support production systems and help solve complex technical and data-related challenges.
• Contribute to architecture discussions and long-term platform development.
• Mentor colleagues and help promote engineering best practices across the team.

What We're Looking For

Experience and Background:

• At least 4-5 years of professional Java development experience.
• Strong experience designing and developing enterprise applications.
• Solid SQL skills and experience working with relational databases.
• Experience designing integration solutions and distributed systems.
• Experience participating in architectural discussions and technical design activities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• A pragmatic software engineering mindset with a focus on maintainability and simplicity.
• Experience working directly with business stakeholders and translating requirements into practical solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

It would be ideal if you also have:

• Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Experience using GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools.
• Experience with Kubernetes and container-based platforms.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and release automation practices.
• Experience developing and supporting Python-based solutions.
• Experience within financial services, trade execution workflows, capital markets, or trading technology.
• Understanding of concepts such as orders, trades, executions, allocations, settlement, and regulatory reporting.
• Experience supporting business-critical production systems.
