Job Description

We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Senior Java Developer to work as part of the Equity Risk System team with a focus on developing market risk management systems and supporting infrastructure for the Institutional Equities Division (IED) within Morgan Stanley.

In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Senior Java Developer position at Vice President level, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.

What you'll do in the role

• You will work closely with the business and the wider development team to enhance our large-scale regression testing capabilities

• You will help to set the strategic direction for the team and provide key input to design strategies

• You will be expected to promote best practices, development tools and agile practices

• You will support and lead different phases of the product lifecycle including analysis, development, and testing

• You will be a technically proficient and enthusiastic developer, with a desire to comprehend the whole system, in order to help engineer new and existing components

What you'll bring to the role

• At least 6 years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

• Proficiency with server-side Java development using the Spring Framework

• Experience developing enterprise level distributed applications

• Experience of working closely with business users

• Experience of Agile software development practices

• Demonstrable ability to meet deadlines and deliver results

• Experience working with SQL and possibly NoSQL-based data stores is a considerable advantage

• Familiarity with Linux and a scripting language (Python or Shell) is a plus
