The Role

We're seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our team and dive into the exciting world of IoT. You'll be instrumental in building an IoT solution from scratch, working with smart metering technology and large-scale data collection systems. The system uses the MQTT protocol, a standard for IoT communication, to establish secure and reliable data exchange. The primary task is to develop the interface between water measuring devices and the MDM system using MQTT, enabling automatic polling and data collection for consumption. This is a unique opportunity to specialize in MQTT, a highly sought-after IoT protocol, and contribute to innovative projects from the ground up. The team operates in an Agile environment, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement. What you will do

• Establish a cutting-edge MQTT-based interface Connect smart water meters with the MDM system, building the foundation for a smarter future.
• Optimize IoT communication: Develop, configure, and fine-tune MQTT communication and data polling for peak performance.
• Ensure robust data flows: Guarantee secure, stable, and scalable IoT data flows that you can rely on.
• Drive collaborative success: Work closely with client-side engineers, Business Analysts, and Product Managers to align on requirements, enhance implementation, and foster strong team collaboration.

Requirements

• Deep knowledge of the MQTT protocol (brokers, publishers, subscribers, QoS levels, topics, message structure).
  
• Strong background in IoT communication systems.
  
• Solid experience with data collection systems (e.g., smart metering, sensor integration).
  
• Proactive, solution-oriented approach with an innovative mindset to identify efficient solutions.
  
• Strong programming skills (Java, C++, Python, or similar).
  
• Knowledge of distributed systems and message queuing.
  
• Ability to work onsite in Hungary 1 day per week.
  
• Solid English language skills and native Hungarian language skills are essential.
