Team/Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to fill the role of ‘Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst’ on theXiNGlarge scale distributed calculation platform (XiP).

In thisroleyou will design, build, andmaintainthe software that manages and controls theXiPplatform. This engine is responsible for 500 million risk& suitabilitycalculations at Citi every day. The calculation engine at the core ofXiPis both highly performant and rapidly changing to support new scenarios, technologies, and infrastructure.

As an engineer working onXiP, you will work on a platform whichdaily;coordinates hundreds of thousands of pods, consumes tens of thousands ofcomputecores,utilizeshundreds of TB of memory, and distributes hundreds of millions of calculations.

You will work closely with software engineers, DevOps, and our customers to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable operations of the platform.

Responsibilities:

• Take partofthe shared responsibility for the long-term strategic direction of theXiPPlatform:Apply your experience and skills to develop the future versions of the calculation engine. This means making it faster,utilizeresources better, andscaleto even greater sizes. This means adding new features withoutimpactingperformance of the platform inundesirablemanner, smallchanges multiplied by millions of calculations havea high costThis means solving hard problems like transferring small amounts of data to a huge number of machines.

• Serve as advisor or coach to team members,allocatingand overseeing work:Mentor and guide mid-level developers,providingtechnical advice, code reviews, and career development support. Allocate tasks based on skill sets and project priorities, ensuring balanced workloads andtimelydelivery. Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment, encouraging best practices and continuous learning.

• Implement changes and improvements tothecomputeservice CI/CD pipeline, includingdeveloping themechanismtoenablefrequent software updatesessentialfor aSaaS offering,whileempowering the users to configurea fixed set ofapplicationpropertiesLead the design, development, and implementation oftheCI/CD pipeline thatis best fit for a SaaS productDesign and deliver anAPI to empower our users tobe able tohave a controlled level ofaccesstothe pipelinewhichallows them tocustomize how the application is run for their use cases

• Designand buildnewmechanisms forrapidtestingofthe platformImprove the current system testmechanismto enablerapid and reliable testing of theplatform, andwork closely with DevOps engineers to evolve create the next generation test mechanismsuitable fordaily release cycle of microservice components.

• Plan, coordinate, and execute strategic changes to thecalculation platformto reach the next scaling milestone:Develop and manage strategic initiatives aimed at scaling theXing Calculation Serviceto meet future business demands.Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure that all scaling efforts are aligned with customer needs.

• Provide specialized customer support tooptimizeand improve large, distributed calculationsAct as a primary point of contact for clients to address issues andoptimizeinefficiencies that arise during distributed workload execution.

Qualifications:

• Over 10 years of professional Java software development experience.

• Solid experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, and Quarkus.

• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

• Experience in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale, distributed systems.

• Skilled in RESTful API design and implementation with a strong understanding of object-oriented programming and design patterns.

• Experience with testing frameworks including JUnit, Mockito, and Cucumber.

• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development environments.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
