Senior Backend Java Developer for Digital Innovation Hub

Festo is a Global leader Engineering firm with over 20k employees worldwide. We create and develop highly specialized technical tools for several applications, such as Industrial Automation, Chemical depuration, Food & Beverage processing, 3d Modelling, etc.

Working in the Digital Hub, you will act as a catalyst of change leading key digital transformation projects across the company. As part of the hub, you will be involved in driving key strategic initiatives within eCommerce, product configuration, Analytics and Digital Sales innovation and defining the digital agenda, across regions, categories and brands.

To achieve its Goals the Digital Hub is led by Startup veterans that are creating a startup cultured unit under the umbrella of this Billion-dollar Corporation.

What we are looking for:

The incoming Java Developer will have the opportunity to work with a cutting-edge technology stack – Spring Boot, React, AWS among others - in an informal, agile and technology focused work environment. You will be given ownership over your work and will be at the forefront of technical design and decision making.

• Design solutions to business challenges by thoroughly evaluating business needs and translating them into effective technical blueprints for software.
• Develop a deep understanding of Festo’s Pneumatic Automation product portfolio and its applications within factory automation.
• Mentor junior developers and provide guidance on technical development.
• Write, test, and maintain backend code, predominantly in Java, ensuring robust and scalable software solutions for the selection and simulation of our client's products and product combinations.
• Support and collaborate with an agile team.

• Coordinate and align requirements with business units and internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Degree in information technology.
• Practical experience coding backends with Java and Spring Boot.
• Ability to work in a team and good communication skills.
• Independent and structured way of working and holistic thinking.
• Good written and spoken English skills round off your profile.
• Spanish language skills are valued but nor required.
• Project experience with current frontend frameworks and technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, CSS3, SASS, React.js and modern build tools NPM/Webpack is a nice plus!
