Job Description

We help the world run better
At SAP, we keep it simple: you bring your best to us, and we'll bring out the best in you. We're builders touching over 20 industries and 80% of global commerce, and we need your unique talents to help shape what's next. The work is challenging – but it matters. You'll find a place where you can be yourself, prioritize your wellbeing, and truly belong. What's in it for you? Constant learning, skill growth, great benefits, and a team that wants you to grow and succeed.

What you'll build:

SAP SS&D (Sovereign Services & Delivery) is looking for anIT Risk & Compliance Specialist (f/m/d) to operate, audit, and further develop the secure infrastructure at our Walldorf location.

In this role, you will serve as the central authority for IT risk management, compliance assurance, and audit coordination within our highly secure operational environment. You will ensure risk-compliant governance of the local IT landscape — including the on-site Micro Data Center — with a strong emphasis on BSI IT-Grundschutz implementation, ISO 27001 adherence, and regulatory alignment.

Your responsibilities span strategic compliance planning and hands-on operational delivery: conducting internal and external audits, maintaining ISMS documentation, driving continuous improvement of the security and compliance posture, and ensuring all systems meet the strictest confidentiality and regulatory requirements for public sector and regulated industry customers.

You will act as a trusted advisor and liaison for compliance- and security-related matters at the Walldorf site, engaging with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and government authorities.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Leading IT compliance, audit, and GRC activities in accordance with BSI IT-Grundschutz, ISO 27001, and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Preparing, conducting, and following up on audits, including evidence collection, remediation tracking, and coordination with auditors, certification bodies, and authorities
  • Creating and maintaining audit-ready IT security and compliance documentation, including IT-Grundschutz and ISMS artefacts, security concepts, risk registers, operating procedures, meeting minutes, and workshop summaries
  • Preparing and delivering presentations, management briefings, decision papers, and structured reports on technical, security, compliance, and project-related topics
  • Identifying, assessing, documenting, and mitigating operational IT risks and supporting security accreditation processes for classified environments
  • Operating and maintaining secure IT infrastructure, including virtualized environments, Active Directory, access controls, backup and recovery, hardened clients, and IT asset management
  • Using SIEM solutions, to analyze logs, detect anomalies, and support incident response and forensic activities
  • Supporting procurement processes by identifying requirements, coordinating with stakeholders and vendors, and initiating orders when required
  • Acting as a central interface between collaborating departments by consolidating requirements, coordinating cross-functional topics, clarifying responsibilities, and ensuring effective information flow
  • Coordinating external service providers and acting as the local contact for auditors, customers, stakeholders, and government authorities, including conducting infrastructure tours and technical walkthroughs

What you bring:

You are a committed and proactive IT Risk & Compliance Specialist with a strong background in secure infrastructure operations, regulatory frameworks, and audit management. Your profile should demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in IT, cybersecurity, information security management, or a related field — alternatively, completed vocational training as an IT specialist ( Fachinformatiker) with substantial relevant professional experience
  • 4+ years of relevant working experience in IT risk, compliance, or secure IT operations
  • Strong expertise in Governance, Risk Management & Compliance and Auditing Support — including hands-on experience with BSI IT-Grundschutz, ISO 27001, gap analyses, ISMS implementation, audit preparation, evidence management, and remediation tracking
  • Solid understanding of Operational Risk Mitigation and Cyber Security — from identifying and treating IT risks systematically to working with BSI-certified products, secure IT architectures, SIEM platforms (ideally Splunk), and classified environments
  • Proven Project Management skills — ability to plan and drive compliance and infrastructure projects independently, on time, and within defined governance frameworks
  • Familiarity with AI tools in a professional context: experience applying AI-assisted automation and prototyping, agentic workflows, and context engineering to operational or compliance tasks — paired with a critical eye for AI output quality assurance and the ability to drive AI adoption within the team
  • Strong communication and stakeholder skills — excellent written and spoken German and English, with the ability to build trust with internal teams, external auditors, and government authorities, and to translate complex regulatory topics into clear, actionable language for diverse audiences
  • Emotional intelligence and customer orientation — empathetic and composed under pressure, with a genuine focus on delivering value and clarity to all stakeholders, even in sensitive or high-stakes situations
  • Complex problem-solving mindset — structured and analytical, with the ability to diagnose root causes, evaluate trade-offs, and drive sustainable solutions in ambiguous environments
  • A collaborative, hands-on, and solution-oriented working style with strong organizational skills
