The Senior IT Professional II, under general direction, provides technical leadership for multiple complex unit-level projects or operations utilizing multiple technical fields for the University Police Department. Develops technical standards for implementing unit projects or operations. Serves as a chair or senior member of an information resource team responsible for setting technical standards and direction.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement IT strategies and systems to support the department's law enforcement activities and objectives.
Manage and oversee the installation, configuration and maintenance of hardware, software and network systems.
Coordinator with law enforcement personnel to identify and address technology needs, ensuring effective utilization of IT resources.
Monitor and analyze system performance, identifying and resolving issues and optimizing IT infrastructure.
Develop and enforce IT security policies, procedures, and protocols to safeguard sensitive date and ensure compliance with regulations.
Manage IT projects, including planning, resource allocation, and coordinator of tasks to meet project goals and timelines.
Conduct regular system audits to assess performance, identify vulnerabilities and implement appropriate security measures.
Collaborate with external vendors and contractor to procure and implement IT solutions.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends, making recommendation for their adoption to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Eight years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with administration of law enforcement records management systems (LERMS).
Experience with records retention schedules and compliance frameworks.
Knowledge of scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
ITIL or other relevant certifications.
Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Certified.
Other Requirements:
Ability to pass the state and national fingerprint-based background check to obtain the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) Certification.
Special Requirements:
Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of twelve years of experience.
