Senior IT Procurement Specialist
Location: Manassas (VA) or Tysons (VA), USA
At SWIFT, you will work in an organization with a clear mission and long‑term perspective, supporting critical infrastructure used by financial institutions worldwide. This is a place where decisions are made thoughtfully, and where quality, consistency, and integrity matter.
As a Senior IT Procurement Specialist, you will join a small but experienced global Technology Sourcing team where individual contribution is visible and meaningful. Based in Manassas, you will team up with another sourcing professional locally, while collaborating closely with peers in Belgium and Malaysia.
You will work in a complex, regulated environment supporting critical financial infrastructure, where sourcing decisions have real impact and require rigor and sound judgment.
In practice, you will:
Manage complex IT agreements and supplier relationships, covering software, hardware, and network
Operate within a sophisticated and modern IT landscape, working with current technologies & platforms—well suited if you have a genuine interest in technology
Engage closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, requiring credibility, clear communication, and the ability to influence decisions
Act as an internal advisor and influencer, helping stakeholders navigate commercial, contractual, and sourcing considerations and help them understand what this means in a regulated context
Contribute directly to the ongoing maturation of sourcing, supporting the move toward more structured and effective sourcing and category practices over time
Work as a senior individual contributor with ownership, visibility, and the opportunity to shape how sourcing is done
This role is designed for experienced procurement professionals who want to stay close to technology, contracts, and decision‑making, while helping raise sourcing maturity in a demanding environment.
Deliver end‑to‑end sourcing and procurement
You will manage sourcing activities across your scope, including:
Running RFX processes and supplier engagements
Performing spend and contract analysis to support sourcing decisions
Evaluating proposals and supporting commercial negotiations
Ensuring sourcing activities align with business needs, compliance, and internal policies
Supporting or leading negotiations in line with SWIFT’s commercial, legal, and compliance requirements
Collaborating closely with the Purchase‑to‑Pay team to ensure smooth execution from contract to payment
You will work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into effective procurement outcomes.
Act as a trusted partner to the business
You will build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders by:
Understanding current and future needs
Advising on sourcing strategies and procurement options
Preparing and participating in vendor and business reviews to discuss performance, risks, and opportunities
Support the evolution towards category management
While the focus of the role is on practical sourcing delivery, you will also:
Contribute to the development of more structured sourcing and category approaches over time
Build an understanding of relevant markets, suppliers, and trends
Help identify opportunities to consolidate demand, suppliers, or contracts where appropriate
Your input will help the team move progressively toward stronger category management practices.
You bring solid procurement experience combined with a pragmatic, delivery‑focused mindset.
In particular, you have:
Demonstrated experience operating in highly complex and regulated environments, where sourcing decisions require rigor, risk awareness, and sound judgment
Several years of experience in procurement or sourcing, ideally supporting Information Technology
Hands‑on experience with complex IT agreements and supplier relationships, including software, hardware, and network
A strong understanding of sourcing fundamentals such as RFX processes, commercial negotiations, contract reviews, and supplier management
You also bring:
The ability to work effectively with senior internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers
Comfort acting as an internal advisor, influencing decisions without formal authority
An interest in helping Sourcing mature over time, contributing to more structured and effective practices as the function evolves
You are:
Clear and effective in your communication with both stakeholders and suppliers
Collaborative, team‑oriented, and focused on delivering quality results
Hands‑on, pragmatic, and comfortable operating in an evolving environment
Analytical and comfortable working with data to support decisions
Professional proficiency in English
The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position in is Manassas $89,348 to $165,000 USD. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
