
Senior IT Operations Engineer
Responsibilities:
Design, administer, and maintain the companys IT infrastructure.
Create and implement policies, procedures, and standards for IT operations and services.
Keep up to date with rapid technological changes.
Support the administration of a wide area and local network.
Provide technical 2nd and 3rd level support to end users.
Implement, maintain, and administer backup and disaster recovery systems and processes.
Document and report on systems, including design, SOP, root causes of faults, and other IT reports as required by management from time to time.
Mentor colleagues and peers both in the IT space.
Serve as the standby and after-hours escalation point for support issues.
Comply with financial services legislation.
Experience in the following technologies and concepts:
HP Synergy / Server Blade Infrastructure.
Storage Technologies Preferably HPE and Fibre Channel.
Hyper-V and Hyper-V Clusters.
Failover Clusters for MS SQL Server.
LAN/WAN/VPN Technology.
Microsoft AD / Azure AD / DNS.
Remote Desktop Services.
Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online.
DNS and Certificate Management.
IP Telephony.
VEEAM Backup and Recovery.
Operating Systems Microsoft and Linux.
In-depth understanding of TCP/IP and internetworking with heterogeneous technologies.
Perimeter Security.
Progression & capacity planning.
Technical documentation.
Skillset:
Grade 12, plus relevant diploma/degree.
Office 365 administration.
At least 5 years of experience supporting an IT Technical environment.
Application Support experience (Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, System Administration).
Broad knowledge of software and hardware pertaining to servers, networks, PCs, and peripherals.
Detailed knowledge of activities related to Microsoft System Support.
Windows and Linux Operating System Administration.
Networking fundamentals and Administration.
Documentation/Technical Authoring.
Knowledge of Systems Architecture.
ITIL - Advantageous.
Azure technologies - Advantageous.
Microsoft SQL Databases Administration - Advantageous.
