Building on our past. Ready for the future

Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts headquartered in Australia.

Right now, we’re bridging two worlds as we accelerate to more sustainable energy sources, while helping our customers provide the energy, chemicals and resources that society needs now.

We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their portfolio of assets. We solve complex problems by finding integrated data-centric solutions from the first stages of consulting and engineering to installation and commissioning, to the last stages of decommissioning and remediation. Join us and help drive innovation and sustainability in our projects.

The Role

As a Senior IT Architect with Worley, you will work closely with our existing team to deliver projects for our clients while continuing to develop your skills and experience etc.

  • To lead the design and evolution of Worley’s global infrastructure and cloud platforms, ensuring they are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with enterprise architecture principles. Security, compliance, and operational integrity are seamlessly embedded throughout the architecture lifecycle to enable secure innovation and reliable global delivery.

Infrastructure and Cloud Architecture

  • Design and optimize hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, OCI) to support global enterprise workloads, including high-performance and resilient AI workloads.
  • Define and standardize architectural patterns for compute, storage, networking, and platform services that enable efficient AI model training, inference, and data processing.
  • Drive adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automation, and GitOps frameworks for consistent, repeatable deployments and operations.
  • Embed security and compliance controls into infrastructure designs, including identity management, encryption, segmentation, and policy enforcement.
  • Ensure observability, monitoring, and resilience are integral to all platform architectures.
  • Collaborate with data and AI platform teams to ensure alignment between infrastructure, data pipelines, and MLOps environments.

Embedded Security and Resilience

  • Partner with enterprise and security architects to align infrastructure designs with global security standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Support threat modeling, risk assessments, and architecture assurance reviews for infrastructure and AI deployments.
  • Apply resilience-by-design principles, incorporating redundancy, failover, and recovery mechanisms across cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Champion a culture of secure-by-default and continuous improvement in infrastructure and cloud operations.

Architecture Governance and Standards

  • Contribute to the definition, evolution, and enforcement of global infrastructure and cloud standards, including AI and data-specific requirements.
  • Ensure architectural decisions are documented, traceable, and compliant with enterprise governance frameworks.
  • Participate in architecture review boards and provide expert guidance to delivery and engineering teams.
  • Establish lifecycle governance to ensure infrastructure architectures remain aligned with evolving business, regulatory, and technology needs.

Collaboration and Enablement

  • Collaborate with application, data, and security architects to design and deliver integrated, secure, and scalable infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering and operations teams, fostering a culture of architectural excellence and innovation.
  • Engage with business and technology stakeholders to translate strategic goals into actionable, measurable infrastructure capabilities.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing to accelerate the adoption of modern cloud, AI, and automation practices.

Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years in infrastructure and cloud architecture roles within large-scale, complex enterprise environments.
  • Deep experience with multi-cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, OCI), hybrid networking, and infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, GitOps).
  • Proficiency in container orchestration (Kubernetes, AKS/EKS/OKE) and infrastructure observability (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Familiarity with embedded security practices — IAM, encryption, secure connectivity, and compliance automation.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachman) and cloud reference architectures.
  • Exposure to AI/ML infrastructure, GPU/accelerator environments, and MLOps pipelines is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of FinOps principles for cost optimization and governance in multi-cloud environments.

Preferred Certifications

  • Azure or AWS Solutions Architect (Professional Level)
  • TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification
  • ITIL or COBIT for operational alignment
  • CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) or HashiCorp Terraform Associate
  • Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, ISO 27001) are advantageous

Key Attributes

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term vision and pragmatic delivery.
  • Strong communicator who can translate complex technical concepts into clear business value.
  • Collaborative leader who builds trust across teams and drives architectural alignment.
  • Curious and adaptable, with a passion for innovation in cloud, automation, and AI infrastructure.
