Role Definition:

Supports and advances the Enterprise Factory Data Lake, an enterprise solution that provides factory data to individual facilities and the broader organization. Serves as the technical lead for the Snowflake environment, covering the Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Data Mart layers.

Contributes to business delivery by helping contribution-model developers remove technical roadblocks, enabling timely access and training, and moving data products into production. The role works with a global developer community and teams primarily located in the United States and India.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the Snowflake infrastructure across the Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Data Mart layers.
  • Lead daily technical support sessions for contribution-model developers and remove development roadblocks.
  • Manage time-sensitive access requests, permissions, contributor onboarding, training, and completion testing.
  • Guide contributors through the three-layer architecture and the established process for moving data products into production.
  • Develop SQL-based solutions in Snowflake for data-product issues and special projects.
  • Evaluate new Snowflake capabilities and guide developers on their effective use.
  • Translate business-process needs into clear technical documentation and development requirements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams in the United States, India, and other locations as project needs arise.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Advanced English

Skills:

Snowflake Platform Administration:

  • Administers user access, permissions, and contributor enablement requests within required timelines.
  • Supports ingestion workflows and platform configurations used by enterprise data products.
  • Identifies platform issues and coordinates practical resolution paths.
  • Applies sound controls to support platform stability, security, and availability.

SQL Development and Data Solutions

  • Required to resolve data-product issues and deliver Snowflake solutions that can move into production.
  • Writes and refines SQL for Snowflake-based data products and special projects.
  • Diagnoses data-quality, integration, and query issues using a structured approach.
  • Creates or adjusts database objects and queries to support production delivery.
  • Solves first-time data-product challenges and documents reusable solutions.
  • Uses Python for ingestion or automation when that capability is available.

Technical Leadership and Effective Communication:

  • Required to support a large contributor community and lead recurring technical discussions with global teams.
  • Leads daily support sessions and keeps discussions focused on removing blockers.
  • Explains technical concepts, standards, and next steps in clear business language.
  • Guides contributor onboarding, training, and completion testing.
  • Provides practical direction without direct people-management authority.
  • Listens for meaning across varied accents and confirms shared understanding in global discussions.

Business Process Translation:

  • Clarifies business needs before defining technical requirements.
  • Translates factory or operational processes into concise technical documentation.
  • Connects business terminology with Snowflake data structures and contributor workflows.
  • Works with business users and developers to align expected outcomes.
  • Use familiarity with Caterpillar or factory terminology to accelerate solution design when available.

Top Candidates Will Have

  • Python capability supporting Snowflake ingestion and automation.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing or factory business processes.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar terminology and cross-functional ways of working.
  • Capability to translate operational requirements into technical writing for developers.
  • Snowflake-focused certification or comparable data-platform credential.

Additional Information:

  • Primary location: Santa María, Nuevo León.
  • This is an on-site position requiring five days per week at the facility.
  • Domestic and international travel of up to 10% may be required.
  • A valid passport and travel visa are required.
