of the Role:
The Senior IT Analyst plans, leads and manages activities associated with the development, implementation, maintenance, and replacement of major information technology systems and applications.
This position is ONSITE and supports The Department of Energy in Germantown, Maryland.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manages and/or participates in the design, development, and implementation of new systems, applications, projects, and other technology solutions; researches, evaluates, and develops or recommends appropriate architectural framework, technology solutions, and implementation strategies; promotes efficiency of processing, ease of maintenance, and features to keep graphic interfaces easy to use; designs implementation strategies based on needs, requirements, and resources.
- Implements and monitors security for each assigned system.
- Provides ongoing functional system support; performs and directs system administration activities including, researches and analyzes system issues or other pertinent matters including hardware and software aspects; coordinates technical assistance and advice to end users for resolution of problems presented; escalates incidents, problems, and requests for service(s) and/or resource(s) to other Information Technology division staff as appropriate.
- Responds to and resolves inquiries and complaints; establishes and maintains positive working relationships with managers, staff, internal customers, vendors, and others during the course of work using principles of good customer service.
- Acts as a technical resource and provides advice and functional work direction to other information technology staff.
- Deploy, configure, and manage classified and unclassified Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) operating systems and on-premise hardware.
- Harden and patch operating systems in accordance with DoD STIGs and agency policies.
- Deploy, configure, and manage storage appliances, including SAN connectivity and troubleshooting.
- Manage and deploy patch life cycle environments using Satellite Server tools.
- Managing installation services such as Kickstart.
- Manage user accounts, group memberships, and access permissions within RHEL environments.
- Deploy, configure, and manage CDM tools and services for asset discovery, vulnerability scanning, endpoint detection, and configuration management
- Support development teams to assist with installation and management of application and database services.
- Deploy, configure, and manage the security implementation and maintenance of all IT equipment, using tools such as firewalls, anti-virus software and vulnerability software.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Ansible and Bash.
- Perform and monitor system backups.
- Support backup and recovery operations including disaster recovery planning
- Create and maintain configuration management documentation for all systems.
- Tier 2 customer support and managing tickets through closure.
- Participate in security audits and incident response activities.
- Administration and support of Cisco Firepower firewalls.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems, networks, and security issues while supporting high availability enterprise environments.
- Manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of TACLANE network encryption devices to ensure the secure transmission of classified data across diverse network environments.
- Coordinate the loading and management of cryptographic keys, ensuring all devices are properly initialized and operational to prevent communication outages.
- Request, install, renew, and revoke SSL/TLS certificates before they expire.
- Maintain a flexible schedule that includes mandatory weekend work for critical system patching and maintenance windows.
- Ability to work well in a pressurized environment.
- Ability to work hard and put in longer hours when it is necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- US Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
- 10+ years of experience performing professional level work in the information technology field; including experience performing information technology analysis and managing IT projects through the entire project life cycle.
- Knowledge of computer programing principles, techniques, and procedures for both locally hosted and on-line applications.
- Knowledge of principles/practices, methods, and standards of computer systems.
- Experience with troubleshooting computer software and hardware problems and resolve as appropriate.
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help manage internal networks.
- Windows Server administration experience.
- Experience with CDM tools (Axonius, ForeScout, Carbon Black, CrowdStrike, Tenable Security Center).
- Successful completion of COMSEC training and certification.

Salary: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00
