About the Role
SMEC is seeking a Senior Irrigation and Drainage Engineer to support the engineering design of irrigation and drainage systems within a large irrigation rehabilitation program.

The role will focus on the technical planning and hydraulic design of irrigation networks supporting agricultural water management.

Engagement:

This opportunity forms part of an Expression of Interest (EOI) submission for a major irrigation infrastructure project currently in the bidding stage. Engagement will be subject to project award and client approval.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review engineering designs for irrigation and drainage systems
• Conduct hydraulic analysis and irrigation system modelling
• Develop technical specifications and engineering calculations
• Support the preparation of engineering drawings and design documentation
• Review irrigation layouts, hydraulic structures, and network configurations
• Support the preparation of project reports and technical submissions
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines during design development
• Support compliance with project standards and international best practices

Key Requirements

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in irrigation, hydraulics, water resources, or drainage
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in irrigation engineering
• At least 8 years of design experience on irrigation or drainage infrastructure projects
• Experience in irrigation design, drainage systems, and agricultural water management
• Minimum 5 years of international project experience
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic modelling and irrigation system design
• Fluency in English
